Wish that when you went to the MIDI editor that you had the option to zoom in/out on all the notes vertically, horizontally or both.

This option to automatically show all the MIDI notes in a track (clip?) as large as posible within the given space would also allow the user to know that there were no notes above or below the visible range that they might be missing.

In fact I wish that this was how the editor opened on default at least vertically.

T should copy Live's fold feature. I know what you mean, when I double click on a midi clip and see NO notes its kinda discouraging.

And the hunt to find the notes can take a while too... and it's really hard to know if you have found them all.

HI

There are various things that could be done:

1) Click on clip opens up a full screen (as large as the arrange area will allow) around midi events.

2) As stated - zoom to fit the number of octaves used for inputed midi.

3) Zoom in as per normal and allow vertical and horizontal movement with the current 'ALT+left mouse button' combo - you can only currently move up/down the piano roll: wouldn't being able to move horizontally or 360 dgrees help to quickly zone in on events?

4) Key command to zoom in to entire screen space - imo this is desirable.

5) That bloomin vertical keyboard is as irritating as the midi editor toolbar previously was - it flicks on and off - I would like it stuck there personally - why not have the option of having it permanently in place or as is?

6) Another option is to have 'Live' style expand/contract of the piano roll area - vertically and horizontally by placing the mouse in those those areas and dragging over the gui?

I could go on but something needs to give!

Sometimes I feel like the whole MIDI editing environment is wet or greasy like I can't grab anything quite right...

That would be very useful! I use the shortcut-keys "zoom to show selected clips" and "expand or contract the current track height" at the moment.
