Only as an external tool:mle wrote:Speaking of audio editing, is there an easy way to non-destructively slip-edit all the silence off the edges of a clip? Or better yet, a way to automatically chop a clip into its non-silent constituent components?

Yes, it would be destructive. And no - I don't know an automated & non-destructive solution for splitting clips in T itself. Could be a FR...

Switched from PT. I'm just starting to get into MIDI and may run into a wall, but so far I haven't come up against limitations.

I know you didn't ask me personally, but one suggestion is to setup a multi-out vsti in a rack filter, assign each output to a track, then save the edit as a template.Beardedone wrote:Rpc9943. What do you do about muti-out VSTis?
I know what you mean, Nuendo automatically created an audio track for each output, and that task alone was much easier in Nuendo (sure it's the same in Cubase and others). This would make a great feature request for T2.5...

That is good except I often throw it into a project just to see how something sounds. Doing this is much easier in my other hosts. In TRacktion I have to fuss with outputs in the rack which is very awkward. If it autoamtically created outs to tracks that would solve the issue for me.I know you didn't ask me personally, but one suggestion is to setup a multi-out vsti in a rack filter, assign each output to a track, then save the edit as a template.

R-click the filter -> "wrap this filter in a new rack"Beardedone wrote: In TRacktion I have to fuss with outputs in the rack which is very awkward. If it autoamtically created outs to tracks that would solve the issue for me.
this will do all the wiring for you and replace the filter with the newly created rack. Now select the rack filter and choose the output pair..
.. two extra steps that you would not have to go through in Cubase I grant you, but this will only happen a handful of times during a mix. How many times do you have to open Cubase's mixer screen and wade through umpteen multi-output pairs that aren't doing anything during a typical mix? I know which I prefer

I use BFD in Tracktion also...when I just want to play with sounds or compose, I just use the stereo BFD...I wouldn't even think about using all outputs unless I was doing a final mix, and really needed that flexibility of putting different effects on the snare, etc...Beardedone wrote:That is good except I often throw it into a project just to see how something sounds. I found that 90% of the time I opened BFD in Nuendo, I wasn't taking advantage of the multiple outputs anyway...panning and levels can all be controlled in BFD without it...

No I stay away from cubase - I hate cubase. Tracktion is much better than that pile of ... junk. I use Sonar and FLS for multiout VSTis.Beardedone wrote:

In T2 I always get lost when attempting to choose the output pair. This always glitch and I end up confused which goes where.

Just a matter of naming the rack outs sensibly surely? I think the rack takes the plugs output names when you wrap it, but if these aren't helpful you could always rename the rack outs, then save the rack as a preset and load that in future rather than the actual plug..Beardedone wrote: In T2 I always get lost when attempting to choose the output pair.
