monomaker is still around right?

Tip: pan the right channel over to the left, or vice versa, so you monitor through just one speaker.. otherwise the bass tends to be over emphasised. ;)

Try Stereotools it's just what you need.

Freebie Dominion from www.digitalfishphones.com has a mono button, so it can be used as a mono button. In Cubase SX3, the Surround mixer plugin can be used as a mono button. The trick about panning both Left and Right to the same side is a good one. To do that, you need a dual stereo panner (in Cubase SX3 you have 3 panner options). Panning both channels to one side increased the level, so it will probably clip. That's why mono buttons would be so cool, and i'm still pissed at Steinberg for removing them from Cubase SX.

I'm going to repeat this, 'cos I'm convinced a huge number of Tracktioneers have no idea that the filter even exists:

Patchbay filter!

You can swap stereo channels, merge or mute the stereo channels, do true stereo panning, and probably a lot more besides.

So: patchbay filter.

That's: patchbay filter. Ask for it by name.

subject - BetabugsAudio Moneo would be my go-to plug for dicking around with such things; however, since you're asking specifically about phase issues, I'd have to recommend BetabugsAudio PhaseBug instead-- not only can you sum to mono for checking phase, but you can actually correct phase errors with it. All for the low cost of free.
