you can always use a patchbay filter to achieve a more user customized panning response.

Also, there's nothing to stop you using 3rd party vol/pans that give the behaviour you are looking for.

I agree it wouldn't hurt for Tracktion to offer a few different options though.
Yeah I found one free 3rd-party plugin that had switchable pan laws. But its a pain to add to each track - not only that but it controls pan position with two knobs which is annoying to automate.

If you know of any others I'd appreciate any links :)

You routinely automate pan on every track? :?

I could make you a suitable plug if you're a pc user..

No I don't routinely. But when I decide its necessary, its an annoyance to have to insert a 3rd-party plug to accomplish it.

Would love a simple, adjustable pan-law plugin (yes I'm PC) :)

Only 1024bit starts to be good.
The next FL will use a revolutionary 1025bit mixing. The extra bit that makes the difference.
So this is what you guys do over here - too cool! :x :D

Anyway when you render you usually set the appropriate dithering - otherwise why bump up the bit depth ? That's what I'm wondering about - not too much, but since this thread was already here...AFAIK you render when you freeze or when you export or mixdown if T2 does any of that I'll stumble on it sooner or later - it's pretty easy to check as you folks probably know I'm sure.

Setup a template as described here:

with a volume/pan of your choice on each track.

Simple.

Here ya go:

PanHandle

It was a bit trickier than I thought actually.. I had to come up with an algo that completely muted the other channel when panned hard one way, rather than just drop it by 60dB or so..

Seems to work anyway.. (SynthMaker in case anyone was wondering)

:)

<edit> also works as a balance control for stereo signals.

Thanks for that!!
:)
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

to be more accurate, you should also provide the curve of the panning law :)

I did this track on tracktion about a year ago http://www.chriscentral.com/music/mp3/0 ... gleton.mp3 on tracktion 1. Comments welcome.
Guitar and voice are the only real instruments.

Is there a way to set the pan law, if not, what is the pan law in tracktion?

Also, are people using the 64 bit mixing setting? How is that going? Notice a significant difference? I noticed that it says to just use it on high track counts, how many is high? How much of a CPU hit happens with adding the 64bt setting to a high track count?

Thanks.

P.S. Anyone know of any tracks that show off how great Tracktion sounds, preferably not synth based music... (I wasn't too impressed with the demo songs :-o ).
oh you could check out my songs... all are made using Tracktion... but if you don't like 'em it's not T's fault
