hi,
what format are the EVE samples saved in?
(curious)
also how well does EVE do "sample mangling"?
thanks

Pay $1,000 for a sequencer? ummm... no
I'm going to have to disagree with you there...

EVE soundsets are stored as DASHsnd files, a proprietasry format, readable by the Dash/NuSofting sample playing synths, including EVE, EVE ONE and Sw...(oops) and now I believe Wusikstation 2.0. Note that the Dash players can also read WusikSND, so by owning either engine you have acccess to a vast variety of sounds. A good argument for owning both platforms, I think, is because they are different enough sonically and architecturally to compliment each other so you get more bang for the buck out of your expansion libraries.jammer42777 wrote:hi,

Dash synths don't really do anything at the sample level per say, but they are extremely efficient engines with excellent sound quality. You can get a lot of mind-bending milage out of the simple controls of EVE ONE using the filter and effects. There are other synths that are "deeper", but the Dash instruments are very well balanced between efficiency, userfreindlinesss and sound shaping ability. Trust me, a little simple synthesis can go a long way with the right sounding synth.
Now if only we could get the EVE ONE effects and filters in a multilayer synth like EVE... but somehow I think Luigi has some very cool stuff up his sleeve.

EXSC (Extreme Sample Converter) can create Wusik-format files from other formats, then Eve can play them. However, it seems to have gone into "not for sale" mode. I believe there are other free translators around, like wav to one-of-the-above.
