Nice Minimoog in your sig. 8)

Yeah, I mean just like any analog/tube compressor, limiter or parametric EQ that is MEANT to add warmth and color to the sound they can be used for great AFFECT ;) or they can be used to smooth.

One of the things I love about the T-Racks compressor is that it was modeled after the Fairchild 670 which is really more of a limiter. But, the T-Racks compressor adds the ability to set lower ratios like 2 to 1 which are excellent for mastering purposes. I have a UAD card too which I love and the Fairchild in there definitely looks and sounds very good. T-Racks is on the same level and doesn't require the card so I can use it on my laptop too.

Actually, I picked up a Magma chassis so now I can run PT and UAD from my laptop too. But, it's an expensive way to go. You can pick up T-Racks for around three hundy at www.esoundz.com (forgive me please... this IS the esoundz forum too and we need to keep it alive with these kind of plugs... as if you didn't know!)

NIN are coming to our area soon. Some of the guys here are hoping to meet them. Our office is right down the street from one of the main venues here so you'd be surprised who comes by to visit sometimes.

I think a forum owner is allowed to do as much product promo as he likes to. Hey, this is the forum where people come to learn about you products, squids.
Since ST2 users kind of already have a part of T-Racks, is there a special upgrade path?

Who are you to be condescending about that comment?

1. You haven't tried it.

2. I said it was just my opinion. (offensive language deleted  )

Not an official one but you can always ask Alex to see what he can do. alex@esoundz.com (the guy is on commission so he has to love that I plug his email as much as I do... I am a good boss). But, the reason I point you guys to him is that he is wise when it comes to pleasing esoundz customers yet firm on following the rules too. A good balance.

That said, esoundz should automatically give you a good price just for your level of previous purchasing too. But, in case it is on sale at MAP price (never listed below without specific membership discounts you'll notice and you have to be logged in to see those) then you'd have to talk to Alex about some kind of bundle deal or special consideration for being an awesome repeat customer (which you qualify of course as do many others around here).

As for my posting, I am terribly commercial but it is totally obvious and I like to have fun with it rather than boring spam. Something to talk about that relates to something we sell. That is what Digizine itself does (and that's why it is free btw).

It was a funny quote. Some good articles in that issue. I was just reading a good article on 10cc in Sound on Sound. UK really has some good mags. Too bad they cost a fortune over here to get but they're worth it.

Sorry Joseph. Honestly I have dealt with a few major things already today.

I see "wah wah wah (in a condescending, mocking voice)" and I don't know about you, but I read it at face value, and...

Anyways, I am in no way a crusader for the usefulness of T-Racks. I actually tried to sell my copy, but IK wants $100 for a license transfer! 100 bucks is all I could possibly ask for it to begin with. :dog:

Holy crap! That's harsh. We have kids that read posts here. I noticed you edited it though. Whew! ;)

But, I think Joseph was just joking. Sometimes jokes don't translate well on forums though. Woops!

Condescending is universally unappealing. It's good to know not to piss you off though otherwise one can be called some NASTY stuff.

Anyway, Joseph will love T-Racks when I convince him to get it. ;) I can find a way. hehehe mwa ha ha... uh oh. Woops. That "mwa ha ha" was definitely NOT a condescending one. Just a casual "mwa ha ha" evil laugh. :D

All good now?

All good. I am a humorous guy (well I try.) Glad that's sorted out. I got enough enemies already. Squids, don't you worry, I'm sure I'll end up with it sooner or later. :hihi:

So sorry I offended you, Squid.

:hihi:

Joseph can have mine for 75 bucks if you remove the license transfer fee.

For that user to be a legit registered user who might qualify for hundreds of dollars in savings on upgrades, crossgrades and other things it is worth the $100 license fee that the USER has to pay.

Still, selling used software is never something one should expect to get much if any of their investment back. I still have some Dr. T software for my Atari that I never used. I never could sell it either. I also bought Seer Reality. Never used it. I never did think I could get much for it. Oh well. At least T-Racks is something you can really make great use of. I can't imagine anyone wanting to sell it if they wanted to buy it in the first place. But, anyway... I am glad you like it.

Sometimes when I am looking to buy something that I can resell I purposely buy vintage hardware gear which often times even goes up in value. That's the one thing software doesn't do is go up in value. But, it's a trade off. To get the hardware equivalent of one instance of T-Racks would cost you over $30,000! (in fact, just the compressor would cost that.).

Post

A general rule of thumb on selling used software is it's worth 50% of the new price.

Everyone at one time or another wants to try mastering on their own. But reality is that there's no substitute for a professional mastering engineer - with the best monitors and room (and the best analogue gear) who's not already biased about the sounds.

T-Racks is very good. Don't get me wrong. But it's a "plan B" type of alternative for mastering.

Hint: an EQ and a compresor which are good enough for mastering will also do a great job on single channels or group channels. ;)

That's why I use the UAD Pultec and Fairchild on tracks. :D

Anyway, it's all good gents. T-Racks is underrated. That I know.

I've dealt with something broken - then something dead this morning. Time to chill.
