hey just got the demo of jamstix, i think this would be awesome to pop in during a client who cant play with a metronome... not sure how to set it up. I tried hooking it up with dr008 and im getting nothing. I hooked my keyboard through midi then audio out to the jamstix, and clicked play, and im getting nothing. Please help :P

Ron can you explain that a little more clearly ? (me being slow I'm sure) - your midi keyboard is playing a synth and the audio of that track is routed to the track with Jamstix on ? And then DR-008 is selecetd within Jamstix as the external sound module ? Should work fine - make sure you have selected 'Jam with audio' (it defaults to midi) in the Jam tab. Are you seeing activity in the, err, 'activity?' indicator on the jam tab (I don't have it in front of me so forget exactly what it's called)

Hi Ron,
Have you loaded a rhythm, there's no default rhythm loaded in Jamstix.
Load Jamstix, click the 'Rhythm' tab, click 'load' and select a rhythm from the list. Load DR008, select a kit, press play in Tracktion and away you go.

You have to use DR008, etc, from within Jamstix to use the supplied Jamstix rhythm sets. Jamstix 'can' act as a host for vsti's, (they don't have to be drum vsti's  ) or used as a drum synth by itself. IIRC, the demo doesn't come with any bundled samples, so you'll need to load DR008, whatever, to get any sound from it.
I assume you know how to load a vsti in Jamstix? If not, click the Mapping tab, under Sounds, you have internal and external vsti options. Click external and go to where your vsti's are located, select the vsti from there and load. You can then use the vsti as normal, but from within Jamstix, with all the rhythms.

Click 'Free Jam' in the jam tab then click Play in T2.

Yes, you can just put Dr-008 behind Jamstix in T2.

The 54MB Jamstix demo comes with a (albeit reduced) sample set so you don't have to use an external VSTi.

There is also a minimal demo (8MB) available without any sounds.

Ron, as you've just seen Ralph is an amazingly responsive guy when it comes to helping people with his product. Stop by the Rayzoon forum and look at the Tracktion support thread there - iirc there have been some replies about setting up with T on there - one of them might already point out something 'obvious'.

Actually I just thought of something - not sure if this 'glitch' is still there but in one of the early demos you had to put Jamstix on the track BEFORE you dragged the midi input to the track (turn per track input off) otherwise Jamstick couldn't 'see' the midi input. Try that.

yeah i actually followed the instructions...

The best way to start off is to open T2, add Jamstix to a track, click 'Free Jam' and hit Play in T2.

After a few beats Jamstix should start grooving by itself.

Are you doing this within a rack? Lets see if I remember this right, since I don't have it in front of me:

1. put Jamstix in a rack
2. put DR008 in the same rack, load a kit
3. Feed the MIDI out of Jamstix to the MIDI in of DR008
4. Feed the outputs of DR008 to the rack outputs
5. Select "MIDI-Out Only" from the Jamstix Mapping tab
6. If you're using Manual Jam (I generally do), go to the Rythym tab on Jamstix and load up some rythtms
7. Hit Play in Tracktion

Is this pretty much what you are already doing?

yup.:)

i got no results. more later, im at work. my laptop apparently told me the demo requires more ram ;)
