impOSCar on Receptor

Hi Folks,
I'm into my 30 day demo of GMedia's impOSCar.
I'm having a problem with it's CC messages.
It has an optional window available, from it's EDIT button called CC; this is where you can see which CC #'s are going to effect specific knobs.
Most work properly ~ I'm using a Triton Le to pick & send CC messages.
My problem is 2 fold:
1)
impOSCar says CC 5 is it's Glide Control knob...so I choose CC 5 on my Triton and it goes where it's supposed to.
impOSCar says CC 6 is it's Glide Time...so I choose CC 6 and it goes to, what impOSCar says is CC 72 (Filter Type)
BTW - CC 72 has no effect on my impOSCar.
2)
In this CC Edit Mode, I can tell the plug-in to LEARN the CC # I wish to send to that control. Half the time, and for no apparent reason, I can't get it to work.
The other half, it learns what I want, but even after saving as a new patch in both OSCar Presets and my own Singles... it comes back, after a shut-down + re-start, with it's default (CC 6) control
I'll buy this puppy if it'll save ALL my settings.
So ~ who's got it happening on their Receptor?
BTW - I've emailed GMedia twice in the last week on this and another question... no response.

CC #72 is in use by Receptor. It is used to control the F/X A Front Panel Param 1. In the manual in the MIDI section you can read about which MIDI CC's control which Receptor parameters. All those CC's are used by Receptor and are never passed to the plug-in.
This explains both of your problems. First, you cannot use CC# 72, but you can use CC# 5 or CC#6. Second, when you try to assign a CC that is used by Receptor, that CC never gets to the plug-in, but CC's that are not use by Receptor do go to the plug-in.
In our next release there will be an option to let all CC's go to the plug-in.
In the mean time you can do one of two things:
1. use only CC's that are not in use by Receptor. Because impOSCar allows you to assign CC's to parameters you can assign the CC's not used by Receptor. The unused CC's are 1-5 (1 is also mod wheel), 33-37, 9, 11, 41, 43, 64-71 (64 is the sustain pedal), 100-101, 118-127 (120 is all notes off).
2. use the Receptor front panel assignments. In edit mode click on the middle icon. When you move a control in impOSCar it becomes available for assignment to the front panel in the top bar. Click on the down arrow in the top bar.
The first 16 parameters that you assign are controllable by CC's 16-31 (coarse control) and 48-63 (fine control). One advantage of the second method is that you can control the frist 4 parameters with the 4 Receptor rotary encoders under the front panel LCD screen.

This is good info, thanks Dan.
I'm a bit confused:
You said I could use CC 6, but when I did, it acted on CC 72 ~ My only point about that is that CC 6 didn't go to where I wanted it to.
I will try the front panel method you've suggested; I must admit, because of the GUI on my computer, I really don't do much navigating on Receptor itself ~ I should probably get familiar with it for when I go live.
And the other point was that when I was able to change the CC for that parameter, it was no longer there after I had turned off Receptor, and then re-started...
Will impOSCar save these changes?

I don't know why. CC 6 should go right through.JayVee wrote:I'm a bit confused:

You might try to un-instantiated impOSCar. Make sure that z-load is off. After that it should remember.JayVee wrote:And the other point was that when I was able to change the CC for that parameter, it was no longer there after I had turned off Receptor, and then re-started...

Sorry, but by 'un-instantiated impOSCar' do you mean to simply remove it from the Multi ?
And to do this before I attemp to set a CC to the Glide Time control?
Should Z-load be off just to write this change?

I'm not sure when and how impOSCar saves the CC assignments.
When you choose a plug-in from the plug-in menu and that plug-in appears and makes sound, you instantiate that plug-in. When you choose a different plug-in or no plug-in at all on the same channel, the plug-in quits, or it is un-instantiated.
If you have z-load turned on, when you set the plug-in to a different one or to none, the plug-in instance is kept around and reused later. If impOSCar saves its settings when it gets un-instantiated, it will not work with z-load on.
Here is what you need to do:
1. Make sure z-load is off.
2. Choose the blank multi patch (no plug-ins)
3. Choose impOSCar on channel 1.
4. Change the CC
5. Choose no plug-in on channel 1.
After that the CC assignments should have been saved. Now you can turn z-load back on if that's what you want.

It's almost 3:00 AM here.
I've been at it for hours; just can't seem to get anything happening.
I can get to, and 'register' the CC in the Change a parameter list ~ it shows up in the Parameter Order as 'Gld Time' (for Glide Time)
I got it by using the impOSCar GUI and, with my mouse, moving the knob...
But how do I change it to to be recieved from my Triton?
I still can't get impOSCar's own 'Learn Mode' to work either...

After you touched Glide Time you see "Gld Time" in the top bar. To the right of "Gld Time" there is a small arrow pointing down. Click on the arrow. The arrow becomes yellow and you see "1" to the right of the arrow. That means that now "Gld Time" is front panel param 1.
On the front panel press the SOURCE button. The LCD should say impOSCar. Click on the EDIT button. You should see on the LCD "Gld Time" on the top row.
Under the LCD there are 4 rotary encoders. Turn the one labeled "A" You should see in the GUI "Glide Time" move.
Now with your mouse drag and select the first word, "Gld", in the top bar of the GUI. Type "Glide" or edit until you see "Glide Time" Press ENTER. On the front panel the LCD should now say "Glide Time"
Now move "Glide Type" with the mouse in the impOSCar GUI. You should see "Gld Typ" in the top bar. Click on the arrow and you will see the number 2 to the right of the arrow. You have assigned "Glide Type" to be front panel parameter 2.
On the front panel rotate encoder "B" You should see "Gld Typ" on the LCD and you should see "Glide Type" moving in the GUI.
You can now rename "Gld Typ" to "Glide Type" if you wish.
Now with "Glide Type" in the top bar click on the number "2" to the right of the yellow arrow. A dialog opens. In the dialog you see:
This tells you what CC's you can use to control these two partameters. You can also type "1" in the "Mode to:" text box, click "Do It" and Glide Type will become the first parameter.
In addition to CC 16 you can also use CC 48 for fine control of the first parameter, CC 49 for fine control of the second parameter and so on. CC's 16-31 are for coarse control and CC's 48-63 for fine control. You can control up to 16 parameters this way.

Code: Select all
1: Glide Time (CC 16/CH 1)

I'm really pleased!
It works, and even after I've shut-down a few times. Thanks.
I seem to have some confusion about getting access to that MIDI CC display page.
Is how to open it (get there) described in the manual?
Can you please direct me?
: )

Page 110 lists the three mode "VST Mode," "Learn Mod," and "Faceless Mode" and how to get to them. Page 113 describes the Learn Mode.
