XYZControl - two more dimensions of fun...

while i'm doing some serious troubleshooting and investigations at the moment i thought i'd add a little more control to the mousewheel plugin...

XYZControl

[edit- just realised i'd not explained what it is for incase it's not obvious!]:

This plugin goes before any synths/fx that have midilearn or general CC control features. You have 3 assigned control axes (vertical, horizontal, and 'size' via the mousewheel), all of which can be controlled at the same time using your mouse. Stick Tracktion into automation-record mode and it will store your movements on the track (editable with T's automation line controls). You can resize the window to any size you like, so you can make it fill the screen if you want to :). Using this you can really make your sounds evolve over time.

remember, you can use the wheel whilst you're dragging, so that's three dimensions of control in one go :)

also, to help when using midi learn, you can right-click the CC number selectors to send a single message out on that number (to save you from having to carefully move the ball in only one direction).

hope it's useful!

Cool!
I was just looking for something like this and stumbled upon this thread.
This will be very useful!
Thanks!

Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Thanks man...

This is great... I really do appreciate it!

:o
if this thing does what I think... :)

thanks a bunch!!

crumbs, not sure what you're thinking, but please let me know if it does! :-o

This is a very nice thing! Thanks!

But, I can´t get this one to work with Shortcircuit, which is the only plug-in I control by CC. When I insert this plug-in the midi-signal doesn´t seem to get through. When I make changes to XYZcontrol and then disable it, it somehow remembers the changes and plays it up fine in Shortcircuit. But I can´t get realtime changes to work...

The first version of the "Mousescroll plug-in" worked perfectly with Shortcircuit though...?

there is a little bug at the moment that i'm trying to get sorted, which means that in some situations it won't generate midi straight away :s if you put a vst synth after it tho, or connect a midi input to the track, it seems to spring to life... quite odd, but there is a simple fix i can apply to make it work properly til i can figure it out - i'll see if i can do it tonite when i get back from work.

Ok. I will try it out some more and see if I can get it to work...This plug-in will turn out really handy in some projects I think. Thanks again!

if you could kindly explain how you go about setting up CC routings in shortcircuit (i have the free version but have never used it) i can make sure it works when i get back from work tonight in about 5 hours or so.

I tried it again and if I open up XYZcontrol as I´m triggering a loop in shortcircuit, it locks the beat (just goes on and on...)and I can then make realtime CC-changes in XYZ. So something strange is going on, but it sure is a lot of fun so it would be great if it will work. Here´s two pictures to show how I did the CC-routing in Shortcircuit;

Hope this helps...

well i can't personally get ShortCircuit to modulate at all for me using ANY kind of messages (even from my controller devices!) so i think i just don't understand how it works :hihi: :hihi: ;)

BUT i've fixed some very silly bugs indeed... the reason the sample kept looping is that - duh- incoming midi was not going thru, so the note-off (and any more noteons) wouldn't get to the synth! :dog: fixed. also it should get outputting midi data straight away. so it should be fine now, i hope it works for you, let me know if it doesn't!

sorry for the ridiculous bugs people! :hihi:

oh, i get it! it just doesn't SHOW you that it's being modulated.. :hihi: i've been doing it right all along i just expected to see something happen on the screen! "use your ears!" :dog:

just been playing with XYZControl with shortcircuit and yes it's working fine now. sorry to have put you thru the broken version!

XYZControl - fixed!

Cool utility!

Um, can someone help an idiot figure out how to use this? I guess I don't get how to set it up?
