RMIV vs. Battery 2

So I downloaded the Battery demo, and ........Eh. I am not all that thrilled with it. How does RMIV compare? Does it do a good "rock" kit?
I just need something realistic, which I thought Battery would fit the bill. But my impressions of the demo, plus another comment I read before regarding NI's latest products, aren't having me favor Battery.
RMIV looks like it might fit the bill, if it can do natural sounding rock-style drums.

No, with Battery you can't do natural sounding rock-style drums. Forget it.

What's with all the sarcasm lately from everyone.
So in my opinion, Battery, RMIV, and BFD all can do great Rock style kits. It just depends on what you personally think of the samples and how much you are willing to work with them. For example, THE rock snare sound requires squashing it with an 1176. So none of the samples supplied with Battery (I only have Battery 1, not 2) have that sound to my ear, but sending the Basic Kit snare through my UAD-1 1176 makes the sample come alive and gives me sound that I really like. Recently, I have been using the BFD demo and really liking the sound and flexibility of that (I'm going to have to cave in and buy it soon).
So is it the sound of Battery's supplied kits that you aren't feeling, or is it some feature that is missing that is turning you off of Battery?

It's really the useability of it that I dislike. The interface, IMO, isn't very intuitive.Beno wrote:

Oh, well that has nothing to do with Rock drums, then does it?
I think the RMIV interface is fairly similar to Battery's so you may not care for it either but give it a try. BFDs interface sure is nice and clean though, and it really inspires me to experiment to get great sounds.

Well no, you're right. It's just that if RMIV does a good job with rock drums, and it already comes with T2, then I wouldn't need to bother with figuring out Battery, or spending the extra money. I am in the process of experimenting with a switch from Rewire (using Reason 2.5) to VSTi's, due to the weirdness of Tracktion and Rewire.Beno wrote:Oh, well that has nothing to do with Rock drums, then does it?

Don't really like either. Both are unintuative to use and lacking in various areas.
I have tried out the Guru demo and when rich enough will go that path (moving in a couple weeks so all money going there). I would highly recommend trying it out also and see what you think.

Leave ones footprint in that of the mind not the physical world. We have screwed it over enough.

Battery 2 with the Studio Drums add-on ROCKS pretty hard, IMHO.
