T2's performance - a test

Logic 5.51 PC is well known for it's excellent performance.
So i decided to make a test: i converted the song "One And Only" from the Waves ProductionMixingMastering guide to Tracktion.
On my computer Logic shows ~65% CPU usage.
And the result in Tracktion?
Well, the GUI is much slower, since it is a medium project of ~30 tracks but the CPU usage surprised me: the peaks were only around the end of the "U" of the "CPU" text in the performance field. So i would say ~60%.
But i have to admit, that T begins to stutter here, when the CPU-metering goes into the red zone.
In Logic no dropouts until 100% CPU usage.
So i would say, T performs almost equally good as Logic 5.5 PC, which is IMO very, very good.
The differences between the converted songs: in Logic i used the DX Versions of the Waves-Plugs - in T i used the VST versions.
Another interesting fact: although both sequencers show the bus send amounts in dB, T's sends were around 3dB quieter, than Logic's (but the channel volumes seem to fit perfectly).
I'm wondering, how this comes?

Its not the same.
DX vs VST probably makes some changes.
Overhead might change.

logic 5.51 8 vsti's 32 vst's = max cpu logic stops playing if i open windows explorer
Tracktion1 (did this test a while back) same 8 vsti's same midi files same same 32 vst's in the same chain they where in cpu looked to be at about 75%
& i can still burn cd's browse the internet via vnc linking me to my internet pc, & its not a 16bit sound engine
so yes logic 5.51 verry good on cpu but not compered to Tracktion
thay are about the same but show different!
when T showes you red it means it when logic showes you red you can still add more
do the tests for yourself's

like he's running 2.0.1.13Lunch Money wrote:Indeed. I admit, I've had GUI issues with T2, but for some reason they seem to have cleared up. I don't know if it was a bugfix or what I've done to change things, but it's smooth like buttah again.

is it realy as fast as a p-ata (ide) of the same speed?
arkive the edit unpack it on the p-ata (ide) drive & see if you get the same "!" problems
it would be a big help if you could do this for me as i have no sata devices

I remember from the T2 demo I tried... changing colors of the skin, esp. the waveforms, to make it look more like T1 seemed to have bearing on the GUI, which seemed a bit sluggish before I did this. Maybe it was just my imagination...Lunch Money wrote:Indeed. I admit, I've had GUI issues with T2, but for some reason they seem to have cleared up. Nope. I said, when T comes into the red zone. And the red zone doesn't start at 60%.ttoz wrote: how can it be the same when you admitted that t starts to stutter at 60% and logic doesn't at almost full cpu load?

That's awfully bad. What audiocard do you have?
