OK - that's weird. I have a Yamaha P80 and I wasn't aware of such an idiosyncrasy.Squids wrote:The low velocity thing has to do with your controller most likely. It responds to the full 127 midi range. You can adjust the velocity parameters to your liking though.
I'll try it again when I get home tonight.
I've loved a few piano sample sets in my time including the native Yamaha P80 sound and "The One", but I felt really at home with the Steinway. I'm not sure why - on a "size counts" front, it's under 100MB in size - quite a bit smaller than "The One".
However, I kind of felt like I was sitting at a real piano.
Maybe it was just better than I'm used to hearing stuffing around with much smaller samplesets and I got a bit of a culture shock. It's also been a while since I played with "The One".
I'm focusing almost stupidly on one instrument when there's a million to look at, but I'm a piano player and I just love it when a piano like this makes me feel comfortable - not just something to render with, but something to play.
I'll try and drag myself off the Steinway to another instrument if possible. The Cello is my favourite instrument so I might have a look at all the Solo Cello patches.
God - this could take years.
