i'm an old newbie with little computer experience. i just got a dell inspiron 3800 laptop from a friend. it' got windows ME and i think 384MB memory?. i was hoping to try some computer based recording with a 2 input usb interface of some kind and tracktion 2. will an older, modest laptop like this work to get me started? thanks for your help. tom

I'm not sure offhand if T2 works with win98/ME, so you may need to source a copy of T1. Try the demo, if it doesn't run properly then you can still get T1 with the the Mackie Spike (although for how much longer I don't know).
The Spike is a good USB audio interface, so you might want to consider that as a good all in one solution for a good price.
Obviously with an older laptop you'll be a little limited for track counts and the amount of real time effects you can use, but you'll certainly be able to get good results.

If Im not mistaken, the newest version of T is supposed to support 98...right? (beno?)
