sorry to hijack, but this is the first time i've come across bram's software, and Tu2 looks interesting. i will check it out, but if any of you want to talk me into giving the guy some money, feel free, i am curious.

like shamann i regularly break tu2 out for messing with a few loops or building segments of audio to use elsewhere ... i find its 'different' way of working leads me down different paths to my other tools (and despite its limitations - yeah - i think a LOT more of tu2 could have found its way in to the new tool - i feel tunafish might fill the same niche in my MIDI / VST setup as tu2 does in the audio side of things) ...
... and AFAICT tunafish isnt meant to be another energyXT or another fl-studio or whatever so comparisions are a little pointless ... bram has (and always has had) very specific concepts for all the audio stuff hes done ... not a big fan of bloat or feature-creep is our mr bos ...

i like tuna!
well it might be very simple, who cares?
i mentioned some time ago,
that a hybrid mixture between fl+muzys+audacity
would be my dream thing..
..when it comes to hybrid-invention.
so, i can say bram has made it!
tuna is the perfect hybrid between those 3
except it needs to improve to be something
serious to use. still - i love the idea alot!
or you can say:
it`s a groovebox with vst abilities.

and it keeps playing in loop mode,
sometimes it happens that there is a tiny
audio drop-out.

i only used a tuna-drumbeat
and gtg k1 and another small synth,
and my cpu got already overloaded.
so, really great invention!!!(my dream)

needs some tiny bug fixes,
and more cpu friendly.

[P4-laptop(desktop-cpu),
2.4.Ghz @ 1024 ddr-ram+ati-radeon]

it is a LITTLE CPU hungry (running about twice as much CPU use as live 5 with the same sequence / synth / preset) but not THAT bad (although i obviously dont know your system specs) ...bambooman wrote:bug-no-3:

mod ... (assuming youre on XP) i have to switch the tunafish .exe into win98 compatibility mode to stop it crashing here with that ame message (XP pro / SP1) ...
... ive mentioned it on the tu2 list but it seems an isolated issue (current thinking is soundcard drivers possibly) ...

code that checks the CPU load. I'll see if I can
just disable it when it fails to communicate with
the CPU properly. I haven't seen this problem in
real life though so it might be hard to solve "from
a distance". I'm on it anyway...

ah ... that must explain why i dont see the tunafish CPU meter working AT ALL either then on my machine ???

I have tried Tunafish and it is very easy to use. You just need to forget about the way you are used to work in FL Studio. Tuna is not a patternbased host so rather then just comparing it to FL Studio I just started working in Tunafish and judge it on its own way of working.
Good points in Tuna:
- Very low CPU Usage
- Very quick and easy way of making a structure of a track and Tuna gives me a lot of flexibility in creating a songstructure because it is not pattern based. By making a segment and then copy pasting it I can quickly make a new part of a track and create all sorts of varieties. Also I love the fact that I can vary each and every single part of a track by just clicking on it in the overview and then returning to the pianoroll. In FL Studio for each and every variation we needed to create a new pattern.
All in all my first impression is very good. Okay Tuna does not offer us a lot of extra's but it is easy to use with low cpu usage (I have used several VST's at the same time and Tuna hardly had any trouble processing them).
Even if you do not want to use Tuna as your main sequencer it does offer us an easy way of creating a song structure with relative ease.

Hi bram! hammerhead was the first step sequencer I ever used, a classic 
Tunafish looks like a great "starting host" for people new to computer music, will have to recommend that one in the future

it`s interesting to realize,

seem to be very talented,
when it comes to

that work well.
e.g. like fl, syntrax,

Not bad but wish it had realtime sequencing capabilities.
Also, the drum sampler needs mute groups and preview/replace samples in realtime capabilities.
