Does tracktion 2 have SSE intructions built in?

Currently it cannot make use of Dual core, and SSE instruction sets are platform-specific, no? I could be wrong about that; however, the intention is to have one unified code base. That means that anything that's platform-specific (ie. DirectX and hence DX plug-ins) is not and will likely (never say "never") never be a part of Tracktion.
If, on the other hand, SSE instructions aren't platform dependent, then we may see them make an appearance. Either way, I don't think there are any SSE optimizations right now. Someone might come along and prove me wrong, mind you.

I know in XP pro you can set processor affinity. So you can tell Traction2 to work with one processor and the rest of your system to the other. But I'm really more interested in whether individual effects and plug-ins will really benefit from a dual core system set up.
wouldn't it be great if we could set effects and plug-ins to work on 1 core, and have the main app one the other? I guess we'll just have to wait. =)
Either way thanks! So far from what I've read during my research, a dual core isn't really worth the extra $$$ yet.

We know from Jules and Beno that Tracktion uses more than one thread of execution. The operating system can dispatch different threads from the same process to different processors so Tracktion can make use of dual-core processors. How efficiently this will work is another matter so no idea what (if any) performance improvements you'll see with dual-core.
SSE is processor-specific but there must be other platform-specific bits of code in Tracktion, albeit hidden behind some common interfaces to keep the bulk of the code platform-independent. I don't recall SSE (or 64-bit) optimizations ever being mentioned so I suspect Tracktion does not use them today. However, it should be possible for Tracktion to be developed to make use of these features in a similar way to the other platform-specific pieces, if there was actual benefit in using them.

I think all of Tracktions platform specific code is freely viewable within the JUCE library. Tracktion is a single codebase with JUCE handling ALL the platform specificity. There may be an odd exception though. I vaguely recall there being soomething SSEish in there.

HI
Dual core/cpu is not currently available to Tracktion user's BUT it is increasingly being developed by the competition and needs to be addressed sooner than later by the developers: dual core are available NOW are not particularly expensive (in relative terms) and within a couple of years will become the standard rather than the exception for demanding power users.
Cubase SXV3, Sonar and Podium has fully integrated dual core/cpu support - Energy XT has got a beta out that does likewise.
Flipper.
