zero latency?

Hi guys,

I realise the Musers are very secretive about what's actually in this box, but I was curious as to whether there was a way to route through Receptor using Zero Latency/Direct Monitoring, like most sound cards.

Waddya reckon? ;-)

We are not as secretive as you think. Well, we have to keep some secrets, but there is no point in hiding what's in the box, since anybody can open it and see what the components are.

The audio card uses the Envy 1724 chip from Via, the same chip that is used, I believe, in the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 and 7.1 cards. I'm sure there are many other sound cards that use this chip.

It seems like this chip can send the inputs directly to the outputs, but the signal would still go through the A/D and D/A. There is also a small chance I am wrong and it is physically impossible to do it with the current hardware.

If it's important to you, post something on the wish list and if enough people ask for it we will try to implement support for it in a future version. It's a not a trivial feature, so it would not be possible to do this very soon.

Hi Dan,

I have thought of a use for this. Let's say (as in my case) you have a controller keyboard which also has sounds that you use regularly on it. It would be great, for those times when you don't have a mixer, or would like to go direct into a keyboard amp, etc, to be able to route the controller's sounds through Receptor, and have one lead (or two if stereo) going to the amp. Also really handy if you like running both the controller and Receptor through external pedals (wah etc).

Anyway, I reckon I'll post it on the wish list - it'd be great to know if anyone else considered it useful!
