I have traction 2 and am using it together with my x-station 25. My question is whether I can get a stereo out signal to my headphones when recording from a mono source (guitar) into an audio track. Right now the audio is only in the left earpiece. Everything works, I just can't get a stereo out.

Thanks

I have the same setup and I do this all the time. Do you have your XStation Audio input as a stereo pair or as two mono inputs? Make sure it is two mono inputs and then only assign and record that one mono input that has your guitar connected. This assumes you are monitoring through software (with End to End enabled in tracktion). If you monitoring through hardware, simply adjust the panning on the left input on the XStation. I'm not infront of my system right now so I can't tell you exactly what buttons this is under on the XStation but if you can't get it working from this description, I can post back later with a more detailed response.

Thanks for the quick feedback.
I have been able to use the pan feature while monitoring through the x station and now can hear the mono signal in both headphones. But when I monitor through the software, I only hear it in the left channel with X Station output 0 selected and the right channel with the X Station 1 selected. It does this with end to end enabled and also with treat as stereo channel pair selected and unselected So it seems the X-Station is working well but my settings are of off.

I have enabled end to end in traction but is there some other setting I need to adjust to monitor through the software (I CAN hear the VST plug in I am using so I must be monitoring through software already). Its just that it is only in one ear at a time (either ear).

Thanks again

Some guitar amp plugs do that to me unless I drag the VST to after the pan/volume...

Drop meter filters before and after any effects to see where the signal is only on one side.

You can use the patchbay filter to cross connect either input side to either or both output sides....

If you are seeing separate outputs for output 0 and output 1, then you probably have them separated by accident. Normally you want your output in stereo pairs. So go to the settings tab, and choose audio dvices from the list. Select the X-Station output in the list and make sure that the "treat as stereo pair" button in the properties pannel at the botom is marked. While you are there, select the input and make sure the same button is not marked. This assumes you just have the guitar plugged into a single input of your xstation. You will normally leave the output always set to be stereo, but you will often toggle the input back and forth depending on if you are recording one or two mono inputs (lieka guitar and a microphone) or a stereo input (like the XStation built in synth). That should do it. The only other option as jpplanet said, is that you have a plugin on the track that is panning the signal on you.

Thanks all for the input.

Ben's answer fixed it! X Station is difficult to get used to. I don't think they have a template with traction.

Glad its working. No template for tracktion, but you can make one easy enough. And they just released some new templates for some more popular plugs I noticed.

Any idea why I cant do loop recording with audio. I get the message "when in loop mode only midi inputs can be recorded."
ComputerMusic (I am using the demo) has their tutorial showing I can record mukltiple audio takes.

Thanks

Sounds like you are using Tracktion1. Is that true?

Yes, I think so. It is supposed to be the latest version (its a demo from a recent computer music magazine). I am testing it against SONAR and perhaps one other. I will download the latest demo now. Thanks
