My audio is cutting out during playback!!!

I have around 20 tracks now in my first serious Tracktion project and the audio will just cutout completely, MIDI playback will continute to work.

This happens randomly, somtimes if I click to the settings or projects tab I can get playback working again if I rwd to the start of the song, but it will just break again pretty quick so the only fix is to re-start Tracktion or Re-Boot, This isn't effective it NEEDS FIXING!!! Note: Once Audio drops out, I have also experienced Tracktion Poof's (ie: tracktion quits and the process remains and cannot be forced off requiring a reboot)

Is this related to the Battery v2 problems I am running Battery in a Rack however its not only Battery that dies, its ALL AUDIO playback.

I am runing build 2.0.1.14,

Is there a more stable build I can try???
Should I re-install tracktion or are the errors in the project file???

Please help as having to restart tracktion every 20mins is driving me Crazy.

well it looks to me like your hitting the max buffer for your harddrive hosting all the audio files!

is there a "!" at the end of the cpu bar in T2? (even if cpu use is lo)

try freezing all the audio tracks (then it will use 1 file for every ASIO output in use

my audio tracks start to do the same thing when i hit the 20 mark aswell (in all hosts i have used)

also you can up the "catch size" in settings\miscellaneous to max (150MB) this should help alot aswell

^^^ Nah, I think its more along the lines of the Battery problem people been having. Im not talking about alot of tracks here, I went back to an old edit and it happens with a single audio track and my 7 battery drum tracks.

One thing I have noticed is that even if I click on the Projects tab and click back once the cursor reaches my loop markers the audio cuts out again. So if I change the loop markers the problem is fixed more or less (except I cannot work on the region I want) So, I think in the short term I will fiddle with reseting the loop points and see how that goes (not the best solution tho)Seems like something is happening from moving around within the loop area. Infact I cannot say it happens with loop mode off or punch mode off or on.

Some of the things I have been doing on the edge of the loop points is spliting clips and punching in recordings etc.,

So do you get the ! signs on your cpu bar subz was asking about or not? And have you tried the cache tweak?

Can you also just check the version number you're running under the About button please?
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

ahhhhh

dose battery have a direct from disk mode? (most samplers do)

it may be on by defalt

in witch case you would still be running meny tracks from the hard drive

try the tweaks i said before & also look to disable DFD in battery

Ok thanks guys I am going to try those tricks you mention and see if that helps. Note, I don't see and exclamation point on the CPU bar.

One other thing I have noticed is it happens in Punch mode with Loop off but only once the audio has dropped out the first time, If I say move the loop points and rwd the play will be fixed, but then if I press "R" to record, the audio will again dropout in record mode, but then comeback once I disable it. So, it may infact be related to disk playback somehow.

Im going to run up a new OS on a partition without any junk installed try all the tweaks install a fresh T2 install and see if that project gets the same behaviour.

Thanks for the tips!!!

I have the same problem on some edit projects... It only happens when I overlap 2 wav on many tracks at the same time.

No "!" in the way... cpu at low usage and I have 1G ram.

Only thing I can do is to freeze the tracks... not realy helpfull when time to mix all the tracks...

I've been fiddling with Tracktion, as I've just bought it. Anyway, I can run 36 tracks of audio in Nuendo fine, but put the same 36 tracks in Tracktion, and the exclamation mark appears, and the audio stutters like crazy. Does this simple test mean that Tracktion doesn't handle audio as well after a certain number?? If so, ARGH!

What's this cache tweak someone mentioned? Is that related to Tracktion, or Battery? I have NO fx, NO vsti's, etc - simply 36 audio tracks.

Please help asap!

Cheers,

b.

nothing to do with vsti's its the amount of ram used to buffer the audio being played in T2 (i think)

put it to max & i think you might just find all the tracks play ok ;)

Ah - thanks for the tip, mate!

I'll try it immediately!

In fact, it DID help the audio to play without stuttering, but it's still not running great - the time counter is not keeping time with the music, if you know what I mean, and the position indicatior (or whatever it's called, the vertical line which shows you where you are in the song) is jumpy too.

Big improvement, though - thanks again for your help!
