Please can someone help me with routing.

I've loaded Jamstix into a rack in T2 which I've put on Track 1. I want to send the snare to a channel on its own, so I can add some FX.

I've set Jamstix to send the snare on Output 2, but I don't know how to receive this on a track in T2.

Any help appreciated.

ok

drag the instance of the wrapper from track 1 down to track 2 holding down Ctrl (that will put another one on track 2 while still leaving the original on track 1)

now highlight the instance of the rack filter & you will see the properties for it in the properties panel (bottom centrer of screen)

now set the 2 bottom left drop lists, where it says "left/right output comes from" to 3 & 4

screen shot coming up

Thanks Subz, that seems to work fine. :D

I thought that the snare would make the meter move on track 2 and the other drums move the meter on track 1. But all drums seems to affect both tracks.

How come the meters move on both tracks? :?

You have to go into Jamstix and work with mapping. When you load up jamstix they will be mapped to Output 1.

I have set mine up as follows:

Output 1 panned full left - kick
Output 1 panned full right - snare
Output 2 - TOMS
Output 3 - Cymbals / hihat
Output 4 - Ambience

Within T2 I map as follws:

Keep in mind that the kick and snare are coming out of Jamstix as mono tracks so you will have to map a connection to make them stereo.

The rest are stereo and just map them stright through to the output. If you want I could drop some pictures tonight.

One other thing once you have mapped jamstix save that mapping. That way you just need to load the mapping up.

Thanks darcy. I think I get the idea now. :D

The only thing I don't get is how a signal routed to channels 1&2 on track 1, makes the meter move on channels 3&4 on track 2. :?

Is there a simple explanantion?

The only thing I can think of is ambience. On one of the Jamstix panels there is a button to click ambience routing to output 4. Check to make sure that that is on. Otherwise ambience might be getting routed to each channel. Unfortunately I don't have T2 loaded on this machine otherwise I would give it a try. I know that this doesn't happen on my setup so I think its just a minor setup tweak.

i know bfd has bleed from the snare mike coming through the kick output ect ect

could this be the same sort of thing?

That's basically what ambience is with Jamstix, but you can route that to Output 4 within jamstix. I think you can also turn it off completely, but it sounds better with.

I tried routing the ambience to channel 4 in JS, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

It's no big problem at the moment though.
