pentium m 1.74
512mb ram (saving up for another gig: like $350 in japan!)
100gb generic 4500rpm hard drive
ati radeon xpress 200m, 32mb
generic soundmax soundcard with asio4all
m-audio fast track pro (sucks: pops a lot with ANY application)
cd-rw/dvd-ram

it does take longer than i'd like to load the program and save projects, but i attribute this to not enough ram for some of my projects. then again, sonar always loaded up and saved stuff in a flash on this machine. hmm. any freezes i've narrowed down to certain plugins. the only "pushing" of tracktion i've done is with tons of plugins and softsynths. i don't do much audio.

and groove agent 1.0 doesn't work in my tracktion. don't know why.

I've run Tracktion sucessfully on a pretty diverse range of setups without problem. I use AMD32s, AMD 64s, and a Intel M. I have VIA chipset boards, nVidia chipset boards, and an Intel chipset. Video cards range from AGP nVidia and ATI, to PCIE nVidia. Two of my machines are even running ASIO4All.

I've also seen people with basically identical setups experience different results. Indeed, I once installed a clean windows setup on my old amd32, installed Tracktion, and spent an hour trying to stop it stuttering when playing songs I had written just a few weeks earlier on that exact PC. Finally I got pissed off with it all, vaped the install and started over. Second time lucky. Why? Who bleedin' knows. Windows is like that I guess.

I suspect software config, other installed drivers, background services, and tweaking issues such as PCI latency are were the majority of differences exist.
Nope - none of those factors have any affect on my system -
the only thing I haven't done is reinstalled winxp from scratch - and since nothing else is giving me shit (cubase, logic etc etc etc), I don't see why that should be the issue- mind you, given what you've said above, it might be worth a shot - it just takes me such a long bloody time to get my system right that I'm reluctant to 'fix it' when it may not have any effect.
My guess is that it is something software-oriented, such as a service-pack thing or something of that nature, but I'm unsure about even that.
Oh well, no harm speculating-

Heck, I run it on p3 1ghz with 286megs. problems must be related to software because if it runs on my POS system, It should work beautifully on anything listed on this thread.
