Hi Ove,

disclaimer: This is only my opinion!
To my taste this is nothing particular. I don't like the aliasing. But overall sound is OK to me, 8 out of 10.
A more modulated audio example could tell us more. Something with a variable speed and variable depth decay envelope on the cutoff for example.

to answer OP, volcano best filters i ve heard!

Post

The most original and weird filter i have ever heard is in my Yamaha Ex5...there's a 24db digital lowpass filter with pronouced resonance...
Man that thing can sound like FM or noise at high frequencies ,i've never heard somethinh similar and ive tried a lot of filters...
I dont like filters with pronouced resonance that makes a pure sinewave...i need something that shapes my signal in a new way... :)

Every good filter must have some gnarf.

It's the same as oscillators having oomph

aka gnarl or snarl

I prefer that with a good dose of blippyness and blebs

bflop is surprisingly usable as well.

Post

Yeah, but bflop has been copyrighted by Roland... Be careful with that one!

Hi Kingston,

now we're talking! For filters gnarl and blippyness make sense to me. But gnarf, maybe that's the taste difference ... 8)

Dunno if that link came up right...

Anyways, check the clips out in that thread, some analog filters in action.

THAT's the kind of stuff we want to hear :)

JMH

PS. They got oomph in the oscs, gnarl, blippyness whatnot in the filters :P

btw, I don't agree that a sound should have gnarl.
Gnarl is something else. While gnarl is usually percieved as extremely obnoxious by most audiophiles, gnarf is a pleasing effect, and not gnarly, like gnarl.

Also, jmh, I think my own filter sounds better than those in the soundexamples you linked to there.

Well, it's good you have faith in your own product :) I'll reserve my conclusions to the moment I'm able to check out your results in form a plugin though :)

... which means I hope we get to see a new interesting product from you in the near future :)
