Can someone explain why Tracktion can't handle audio??

Sascha has a good point, it's pretty stoooopid that the important filters become flypoo when zoomed full out.

The mac OS - dock style zoom would fit T perfectly, I plusone it :)

re: tests - I used to have one Crystal patch that could kill anything just by itself. Maybe I'll tweak it and pass around, the one who can play all the jazz chords with Glaceverb on has the meanest machine ;-)

What about the original problem? Is there something special about the waves? I've never had probs importing any waves...

Who me?

I can check out what the DaveC test over at the PTLE forums consists of, and then adapt it to Tracktion. Apparently they've done the same thing at the Cakewalk forums as well.

I will look into it today.

It goes without saying the you're gonna get wildly different figures comparing say rgc Z3ta and reFX Claw.

I managed ~93 simultaneous tracks of Muon Tau on my old AMD XP2000. That figure was pretty much constant across the handful of hosts I tried. (stereo, 44.1 @5 ms latency)

OTOH, some Toxic2 patches played as a simple chord can take the wind right out of my AMD64 3000.

Hey valley,

This post started out host-specific - if it's ok, I'd like to concentrate on that in the test, if anyone has more than one host. It just interested me that Nuendo (which I thought had a reputation for bloatware and CPU intensity) handled 30-odd tracks easily, while Tracktion was struggling badly (read: barely playing).

It's still bothering me, so if someone wants to do some tests similar to mine, that'd be great!

Oh, I probably should have directed that at the ACTUAL PERSON doing the test - sorry, valley!

So, er, polaris20...?
