What's new in T2?

Sorry if this has been covered in a previous thread.
Like I say, what's new? Specifically, but not exclusively; how's midi been improved? What's good about it? Are there any areas that could/should have been improved but haven't?
I demo'd T1 and mostly loved it, though I had a problem with the way that when pressing record during playback for overdubs, playback would momentarily stop before restarting. Has this issue been reolved (or was it my system - Korg Oasys, Windows ME - works OK with Cubase)?
Regards

I also have this problem and I hate it.thingy wrote: I demo'd T1 and mostly loved it, though I had a problem with the way that when pressing record during playback for overdubs, playback would momentarily stop before restarting. Don't know about T2, but I'll try it when I get home from work.

No, not your system.. and its still the same in T2 I'm afraid.thingy wrote: I demo'd T1 and mostly loved it, though I had a problem with the way that when pressing record during playback for overdubs, playback would momentarily stop before restarting. You're kidding right? It's the 21st century....punch is a quaint analog artifact once used by our grandparents.

I like to try out/practice different riffs, runs etc. over the top of a loop. When I find something I like I hit record and get whatever it is down quickly and without loss of rhythm or spontaneity. To use punch I would have to stop playback, choose a punch in and punch out point, press play etc..it's never even occured to me that it was possible to start recording while playing! for overdubs though it's just as easy to use punch.
Punch may suit some, but it certainly doesn't suit my way of working. I really like just about everything else about Tracktion, and I'd love to jump ship from bloody Cubase, however this problem is more than a little irritating, it is fundamental to the way I work and, as such, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to live with it.
Oh well, maybe in T3?

I agree it needs fixing.. however, T2 acts a little differently in loop mode (recording always starts from the top of the loop) so I would still recommend you give it a serious try with an open mind before dismissing all the other benefits T2 offers..

Yes I'm going to try out the T2 demo. Although I think at the moment it only runs under XP, so I'll have to wait for the 98/ME fix.

thingy,
This same problem still exists in T2.
Pressing record during playback causes a stutter in playback. Other hosts I've tried don't do this.
Also, in loop mode, pressing record causes the cursor to jump back to the start of the loop.
Punch in can work in many situations, but is not good in the scenario you described:

I was about to post a feature request when I noticed this. Don't know if this is exactly the same, but when I'm playing a midi part back, I'd like to hit record and keep going, but when I hit record, the song starts from the beginning - bugging the hell out of me!

I'd recommend updating your OS, instead of waiting for Me compatibility.thingy wrote:Yes I'm going to try out the T2 demo. Although I think at the moment it only runs under XP, so I'll have to wait for the 98/ME fix.

Me, no offense, is the worst OS ever released by MS.
Besides, I doubt patching for compatibility with a nearly 6 year old OS is high on the To Do list for Jules.
