mine isnt a dildo its the inside of a vibrating sponge :x
:hihi:

i got the idea after reading an interview with steve hillage saying hed used a certain model for such and such on a system7 track.
the one he uses was something like $300 worth of dildo as well :o
chrome plated so n so.
i then picked up a vibrating sponge in of all places tesco for £1.99 and ripped the sponge off to reveal a flat surface great for sliding on strings :D

there was a "controversy" (well maybe that's too strong a word) that Jimmy Page stole the bow on guitar idea from another 60's British band who's name escapes me at the moment... they did the song that opens the movie Rushmore called something "time" like "Wasting Time" or "Saving Time" or "Changing Time", since i've been reading this thread it's been driving me crazy trying to remember the band's name and song's title...maybe "Killing Time"? anybody? the main riff is a bowed rockin' guitar...real good tune...WTF IS THAT SONG CALLED? :bang:

saw them here is Houston about two years ago and it was the best show I have ever seen.
That is probably it, and they are an insane band.

I heard them for the first time when I saw vanilla sky, loved that soundtrack.....

Anyways.......there used to be this show called "reverb" and they had a great performance......then that's the last I heard of them...

Glad to see they are still around

"Making Time" by The Creation

I have to read this story, I have never heard that.

But generally "who did it first" has always been irrelevant to me. Who did it right is the issue.

I often use a drumstick on a bass live to get a really punchy reliable slap sound. Worth trying...

I often play guitar with a screwdriver (flat head magnetic ones are the best) and have been known to use a tack hammer too.

No - I am *not* taking the piss. Much.

sigur ros are phenomenal....especially live (i'll be seeing them for the 11th (edinburgh) and 12th (barcelona!!) time this november.

the first time i saw them live (also in barcelona) was my favourite gig ever. at the end, around a third of the audience were in tears, and the rest just looked gobsmacked.

the new album 'takk' (released today) is their best yet imo...maybe a bit poppier / happy sounding, and certainly more structured than before, but still very much sigur ros.

here is a link to their new video (wmv - not great quality) http://befb.vortex.is/sigur_ros-glosoli.wmv

enjoy

ok, then everyone should try the 'Paul Gilbert method' ....

Take three guitar picks, epoxy-glu them to a drill bit, place this in your
fav' cordless drill.... and let the terror begin!!

(hehe, see if your fret hand can keep up with the drill!!!!)

Inspired by this thread I played the guitar with a beerbottle at Mark's yesterday..... but not as a slidethingy.... I used it as strumming tool....
