Guys I'm having trouble recording guitar in traktion2. There is always a noticable delay before the sound actually makes it to traktion, which makes it impossible for me to record to a drum beat. Someone suggested I turn off end-to-end, but when I do that I hear nothing. I have a sound blaster live 24 bit, and the quality is actually quite good but I need to figure out how to be able to monitor the guitar in realtime. I cant seem to find the settings for the soundcard in windows. One thing of note is that sometimes I can turn up the input in the windows "Playback settings" and I hear the guitar in realtime, but traktion doesnt pick it up. Then I turn up the input under "record settings" and the meters move in traktion but like I said its delayed.
Any help would be great.

What drivers are you using with the live card? I suggest you install the KX Project ASIO drivers if you haven't already, as these will allow much lower latencies than the DirectX or MME drivers the card provides.

Yes, it's all about the drivers. You'd get the same 'latency' in any other software, so it's not Tracktion-specific. With Creative, I found the KX Project drivers to be the best, though I have to admit that most of the info on installing and configuring flew over my head. Once I got it up and running, I just let it be.
You could also Google for the ASIO4ALL drivers, which might also be worth checking.

Thanks for the tip, but I had trouble with the KX project. Apparently its not great for hyper theading computers. I installed the driver and halfway through the install my computer crashed. I had to use the windows recovery console to get back to the desktop. I then downloaded asio 4 all and ajusted the latency, and I'm happy to say I'm in bussiness.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I had something weird like that with guitar--everything I did on a new guitar track was about a beat and a half late. What fixed it was something odd. I had "punch in" enabled *when I was first creating the guitar track*. When I disabled "punch in" and started a new guitar track, the delay went away. Once I had made a track, I could then enable punch in wherever I wanted to, and things worked fine from then on out. Weird.

I've had that exact problem too, and just like you I found out that it went away when disabling Punch in. Very odd.
