I have to admit that if I were to bother describing in detail a host that (in answer to the OP) I actually WOULD bother with... I too would be describing Ableton Live 5

I think The soundfont player will be substituted by a new sampler with the ability to use soundfonts.imekon wrote:Nothing. The company that made it have ceased to be, so there's no support for it. Image Line are still selling it. I've tried logging a few bug reports against it, but nada.Thoth93 wrote: Does the XXL package have any other goodies that make it clearly superior? I already have a Soundfont player, for example. What's so great about the FL one?
I`m not totally sure, but it has been hinted at a couple times in the FL forum.

like the rest of the FL samples, im afraidBennett wrote:Back to FL Studio - I'm considering it for my looping needs - how is the "2 Gigs" of downloadable content (one-shots, loops, etc.)?
I mean they're not worthless, but they definately are capable of leaving that nasty "FLStudio taste" on tracks

To answer one question: XXL is pretty-much FLS Producer Edition, plus all of the extra-cost VSTI, etc (Simsynth, Wasp, Sytrus, soundfont player). So, for the core FLS app, XXL and Producer are the same.
And if I remember right, Argaru is doing the sampler.

Is there any indication when Version 6 is actually coming out? And what will be in the various editions?

Not so great imhoBennett wrote:Back to FL Studio - I'm considering it for my looping needs - how is the "2 Gigs" of downloadable content (one-shots, loops, etc.)?
You can buy some loops and beatcreator (same engine as fl studio) for the same price as xxl.
If it's drums you want, get drumcore and beatcreator and you will have some coooooool options!

Argh! Looks like FL5 is losing steam for me.eyeknow666 wrote:Not so great imhoBennett wrote:Back to FL Studio - I'm considering it for my looping needs - how is the "2 Gigs" of downloadable content (one-shots, loops, etc.)?

I'm looking for looping of all sorts, not just drums, but thanks for the suggestions.

@Bennettt: if you plan to buy a midi keyboard or controller, most M-audio keyboards come with a free cutdown version of Ableton Live which is good to loop a few tracks at once... with teh latest version of Live Lite you can also have one midi track with a VST instrument on it. That, coupled with some loop sample CDs from Time and Space could be all you need...

not only that, but an upgrade path to Live at about half price.scam_artist wrote:@Bennettt: if you plan to buy a midi keyboard or controller, most M-audio keyboards come with a free cutdown version of Ableton Live which is good to loop a few tracks at once... with teh latest version of Live Lite you can also have one midi track with a VST instrument on it. I think 3xOsc sounds good enough but I don't see where having to go through about 20 pages of GUI is simple. They should give it a proper GUI instead of locking it away in that tiny channel window.arke wrote:Many people will disagree, but I think the most powerful feature of FL is the simplest of all - the 3xOsc.
You do realise that you could buy a full licence of eXT every year for around 8 years and still be better off? And whilst Jorgen may not make a fuss about it, eXT users have had a s h i t lo a d more free updates in the last couple of years than Fruity users.chardin wrote:FL Studio has free lifetime updates for the download version. Definitely a plus for me.
