say you have a kick and a snare. when they hit, I want each drum to vibrate super fast..like a really fast tight pan, so the drums sound "blurry"..kind of like a shaking effect.

I dont even know if this can be done, but I figured Id see if anyone on here has tried this or evn can decipher what I'm hearing in my head ;)

Are you looking for a pan with LFO? ;)

Post

Ping pong delay with a really fast time probably 50ms or so. High feedback 50%or more. But this is just a guess.

Post

Yeah, I think a delay with fast time and place the delays where you want them in the stereo field.

If I'm imagining the same thing as stash, 50ms isn't going to be fast enough, and most delays won't go the speeds he has in mind. BUT, that's just me imagining something that may be out of left field.

How about Spectron? I think it has envelope / LFO controls for pan and delay. I know it's great for getting very rich "blurry" effects. It's pretty rough on the CPU though.

For that matter, you could just try messing around with some FFTs, making sure to split the stereo signal to feed two separate algorithms.

Also MDA Auto Pan does audio-rate (~30 Hz) autopanning. Check it out.

coo.i knewyou guys would not think I was insane..(or maybe you do and are hiding it;) ).

Lunch, I think you are right...spectron sounds interesting..i will keep messing around trying all these suggestions..if you thibnk of more keep them coming...

it CAN be done..heh

Or you could try a rotary effect - they imitate a Leslie cabinet, and would make your stuff spin around wildly.

Anyway, another suggestion!

just got spectron..am messing with it..the leslie is too slow, i tried it out..this would be a very fast effect.

you know those tee shirts a few years back that were written out so you felt drunk when you read the text?

thats how i want to the drums to sound..so fast that it just shakes.

Sounds like a comb filter might be the go...GRM tools has a nice series

Maybe slice the wave and pan each slice alternating left, right. It will take forever if you want this all through the song.
