Thanks.
Ableton obviously cannot do everything that Cubase can do, just as Cubase can't do everything Ableton can do. Every sequencer has a unique ability or two up it's sleeve that only it can do. I'm not saying that one is better than the other, but that they are definately different and don't share all the exact same abilities. But to answer the specific question. Cubase has extreme abilities when dealing with hardware sound modules and hardware FX. I can sequence my Motif Rack in SX3, edit the Motif with an interface that looks like a VSTi interface. Save the Cubase file and have total recall when I next open up this file. This can be done with numerous channels/instruments on the Motif Rack Es. That much I know from daily use. What I've read is that hardware FX can be handled in the same way and also have total recall between hardware and software. I don't know if any other sequencer had travelled further down this particular path.

I had my first proper play with Live 5 today and as an SX3 User im tempted too

I like the simpler sample player, the way you add inserts and assign midi controllers.

I have not tried the recycle/beatslice function for loops and remixing. I remember on previous versions I didnt like it (or couldnt use it properly)
Im gonna give it another try when I get some of my own samples on the machine.

I dont think I would make a complete switch from Cubase as the midi implimentation is not to my liking. I would however consider this as an arranging tool and keep cubase for making loops/sound design

well thats my opinion...

No, none have. Cubase SX is definitely king of the hill in that respect, both on PC and Mac.
