DK+: A question about controlling the sequencer.

I find that the pattern in a given sequence does not always start on page 1 of the pattern when it is introduced during a song. This can mean that the sequence of drum rolls etc does not match the song.
Is there any way to control what page of a pattern the sequencer starts on?

pages are meant only for DK+ editing, tonynorriss wrote:I find that the pattern in a given sequence does not always start on page 1 of the pattern when it is introduced during a song. This can mean that the sequence of drum rolls etc does not match the song.

the pattern should start on bar start
and keep the sync as long as the number of steps matches your signature,
maybe with an example this would be easier,
which host are you using?
thanks for asking

Hi Liqih,
Thanks for the response.
I am using Magix music studio 2005.
DK+ works fine in every other respect.
Here is a specific example of the problem:
I am using the "rock" bank, pattern A which is 64 (4 pages) long. I have given a "C1" message on the first beat of the first bar. The event editor on my program gives the following information:
Position Status Cha Num
1 1 1 1 Note 16 C1
When the sequencer starts, it starts at page three rather than page one. However, if I shift the note forward to the third bar, the pattern starts at pattern one.
I am interested in your comments.
Many thanks.

if you shift all your song two bars forward,
so that it starts at 3111,
and for DK+ use
1 1 1 1 Note 16 C#1
3 1 1 1 Note 16 C1
would that work correctly?

Hi Liqih,
Thanks for the quick response. This is one of the best things I have found with dealing with your organisation so far. I have dealt with some online software sellers that take weeks to respond to questions.
Perhaps DK+ is functioning correctly. I will describe the test I did.
1111 C#1
3111 C1
7111 D1
8111 C1 and then 9111 at C1
At 3111 the C1 pattern started at page 1. At 7111 the pattern switched to D1. At 8111 C1 started at page 2. When I changed the position to 9111, C1 started at page 3.
It seems to me that the sequencer counts the number of bars previously run, and steps in with the four page sequence at a point that takes the previous sequence into account, rather than resetting itself to page 1 again.
Is that the way it should be working, or should it be resetting itself to page 1 at each occurrence?

that's correct, you must see the pattern in 16th,
the "rock" bank, pattern A which is 64 (4 pages) long means 64/16 long
if your signature is 4/4 that means 4 bars,
(that is if you have step resolution in DK+ to 16 as well)
so it resets itself to page 1 after 4 bars and multiple of 4,
if you switch to another pattern on an different measure the next pattern will pick
at that point,
example for DK+ rock Style:
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
2111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 2 = page 2
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
5111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
5111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
2111 C#3 C#1 Pattern B stars from bar 2 = page 2
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
5111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
7111 C#3 C#1 Pattern B stars from bar 2 = page 2
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
5111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
9111 C#1 Pattern B stars from bar 1 = page 1
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
5111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
8111 C#1 Pattern B stars from bar 3 = page 3 plays the B Fill
9111 C1 Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
5111 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
8111 E1 Pattern E stars from bar 1 = page 1 plays the E Fill
9111 C1 Pattern A stars from bar 1 = page 1
more complex, try this:
1111 C3 DK+ seq OFF
4311 C#3 C1 DK+ seq ON : Pattern A play its last 2/4 of Fill and lauches the song
8111 F1 Pattern F stars from bar 1 = page 1 plays the E Fill and lauches the variation
9111 C#1 Pattern B stars from bar 1 = page 1
the whole point of using the DK+ this way is that after you set up the MIDI track of triggers on channel 16
you may then change the Style in DK+ and keep the song structure!
the other way of working is to export the patterns as MIDI files and edit them as normal MIDI track in
your Host,
thanks for your questions, this would help other users too
