I've just upgraded to T2 for my new DAW and every few minutes this pop-up cuts everything out. It's a simple fix as far as just disabling and then re-enabling "e-to-e" again, but...

Anyone have any ideas???

Post

which audio interface do you use? which plug-ins are playing while this happens ? etc.... you need to give us more info

Post

Definitely more info needed. My first guess is "dodgy drivers", but it could be other things.

Shit I am gettign the same thing.

Very simple project involving Oddity, FM7 and Prodyon NADS. The lightest CPU plugs one can find...

My card is an Audiophile 2496 with latest drivers.

This is a bummer...

There is also a mesage that appeared for an instant saying that my CPU use was too high....but I had no CPU use so it may be a spike.

My PC is Athlon XP 2000+

Audio Interface: Audiophile 2496 with the latest drivers
PC: Athlon64 4400+ "Dual Core"

... and it can be ANY plugin, whether it's a synth or FX it doesn't matter.

I'm NOT getting any CPU spikes just this cutout as the audio device quits.

oh look thay both have the same sound card!

i wonder what is the problem then?

sorry! things like this are not to be joked about :(

have any of you updated drivers reasentley? did it work before if you did?

maby rolling back your driver to the last vershion might help

I've been using the Audiophile (as have MANY other people) rock-solidly since the day I bought it. I can't even vouch for having the latest drivers 'cause I can't remember the last time I actively looked for drivers for it. Seems to me it was a "final" version of drivers anyhow as I doubt development for the 2496 has continued. It's likely NOT the sound card.

Talking about CPU spikes reminded me that when I had mine cut out, that's exactly what it was from. The second your edit is 'too much' for your CPU, this will happen as a safeguard. Otherwise, without stopping playback your computer will be crippled.

It could be that you're getting a spike and simply not noticing it because it's happening so quickly and at an unexpected spot. I'd imagine that the same thing can happen with HDD overload, though I've only had it happen from CPU overload.

Plug-ins with memory leaks and denormal problems could be the source, too.

I had some (different) problems with the very latest Delta 66 drivers & Tracktion.. un-installing them and re-installing the last-but-one versions seemed to cure it. Worth a try..?

<edit> Greg, can you find out which driver version you are running?

<edit2> development of Delta series driver has been continuing, if for no other reason than to add Pro-Tools "M-Powered" support. If you don't intend to use PT you may be well advised to stick with the last stable version before the PT deal.. ;)

In my control panel it says:

Driver Version: 5.10.00.0048
Panel Version: 1.03.26-2.6.00

I remember when I downloaded it, I downloaded just a driver file with some sort of long number attached to it, because downloading, "Delta Controls 1.07" (or however it was labelled) didn't get me the latest driver version. Then, I couldn't see what extras the "full" package was getting me, so I didn't bother.

Well, the card never gave me any problems in the past with other sequencers.

Heck T1 was working well with this setup if I remember correctly.

The plugins I use also never gave me any problems and are all very light on CPU.

I think I have resolved the problem but I will need more testing.

For some reason, during the last update, my soundcard doubled all my outputs. So there were 2 indentical ASIO outputs in T2 as well as other applications.

I reinstalled the drivers and now have the correct number of outputs. Should work fine now.

Excellent news, and I'll be sure to file that in the memory bank (tho my memory is suXorZ) for next time it comes up. I'll know 2 possible options: CPU overload or doubled-up drivers. :D Cheers for letting everyone know what it was and how you sorted it out!

YUL: Brilliantly simple deduction. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drives and now everything is running smoothly.

It's always the simplest solutions that solve the most frustrating problems.

Thanks.
