Tracktion Software

hi
first pardon my english for I'm french.

My problem : I've been working with T1 for a while on a computer-only setup, and it's been very well so far. Recently, I'm starting to collect hardware ,and want to control it with Tracktion, of course. It seems to work but sometimes, a midi note randomly drops off, and then shortly after, my midi interface won't send any more midi information to the external gear.Looks like a kind of saturation? I then just have to quit Tracktion, reopen it, and it works again (till...).My Midi interface is a Midisport 2*4. I've been running it with patterns on Live, and it seems it was OK, so I guess the gear is Ok.
Note : this does not seem to happen if I use only one midi outpout. But as soon as it's two...and I haven't try more yet...

I've been downloading T2 to give it a try, and it seems a little more stable (hard to say), but still sometimes crash (and it's not the all notes off message due to the demo limitation)

I'm quite new to hardware Midi, so maybe I'm missing something here.
So if anyone has met the same problem, or even better solved it, I'd be happt to know !

Xtra question : does midi clock out works well in T2 ? Though enabled, I couldn't run my groovebox with it (but it was oubviously sendin midi signals to my Midi interface). Maybe this weirdness is in conection with the previous one ?

I've succesfully synced the step sequencers on my Nord Micro Modular using MIDI clock: the only problem I had was a slight glitch when looping around the markers..

Well it won't start my MFB-502 ? strange, because it works fine with Live...

Have you enabled MMC for that output? (timecode -> send midi machine control to device -> choose midi output)

I have the same problem with my Midisport 4x4 in Tracktion. It does work OK if you only have one midi output enabled, but not more. Apparently the Midisport do work OK in Tracktion for some people, but not for me (and you).

IIRs: yes I think I did. I'm gonna try once more !

husker: interesting... I am actually tring the following : kinda "bypass" tracktion's midi output managment by selecting only "default midi outout" for every track, and send the track in the properly desired output using the handy Tobybear's "VST2Mid" plugin. It seems to be much more stable, though I haven't try long enough to be sure it is absolutly stable. Maybe you could try that and tell if you see any difference ?

No the sync doesn't work...However it is clear that T. is sending something because the output light of my card on the selected output starts flashing. But it cannot come from my groovebox either, because it works just fine synced with other software like Live. Maybe another chapter to "Midisport compatibility problems with Tracktion". Husker, can you properly send and uses midi clock with your midisport4x4 ?

I have just been playing for a while with two outputs following the procedure I described in my previous message, and there has not been a single crash. Should try with more outs now...

Since we are in the chapeter of midi werdness, I experienced that. Tracktion periodically sends a midi message to output 2 of my midisport. Don't ask me why 2, and why only two. I have ni idea what this message does. It doesn't seem to be connected with midi clock etc... because it happens when I have not enabled midi clock. So this is weird. The other weird point is that I can HEAR this "blick" even when the gear connected to the output 2 is off tension ! It apparently goes in a jack and feed into my mixer. Maybe someone with more harwaere midi experience can tell me what is this new weirdness.

Midi-sync works reasonable well for me with only a single out enabled on the midisport in Tracktion, anymore and it goes haywire. I've actually put Tracktion 'on-hold' for now (partly due to these issues), and am quietly getting hooked on Live5...which despite some early issues, now does midi extremely well, and works very well syncing groove boxes.

yeah sure... but I'm a Tracktion fan

I hope this "Tobybear" tricks keeps on working...but if you tell me that midi clock is a problem for you too...

All in all are they people around who use tracktion for external hardware sequencing, and are happy with it ? if so what midi card do you use ? thanks !

i use tracktion 2, remote 25 and have had no end of trouble syncing a mpc1000 for midi clock. they need to sort this.

Regular viewers will know that the correct implementation of midisync is one of my top FR. Lets get it sorted quickly please.

Yes please! Support for MTC and beat clock are miles ahead of all my other problems with T2. This feature is the only reason I moved from T1 to T2. What a surprise to discover it didn't exist.

agreed as a multi-track recorder it sux that there is no reliable, working, midi clock sync.
i need this fixed so i can use the software. till then i have to use another daw
