Now I think I'm reading that correctly that I *should* be able to import and load Sampletank formats, no?FEATURES:
* 16 parts multi-timbral sound workstation with layerable parts
* 3 synth engines: new STRETCH, Pitch-shift/Time-stretch, Resampling
* 32 built-in DSP effects, 5 effects per part
* Loop sync and time/ pitch manipulation
* Import WAV, AIFF, SDII, AKAI®, SampleCell® plus native sounds
We even bagged 250MB of samples and loops from IK Multimedia's collection for instant, blow-the-roof-off satisfaction. Read 'em and weep:

could be just me having a Homer Simpson moment but I can't get anything but the presets that came with Sampletank SE to load. Won't import a thing. IN both cases I get a message telling me that my version won't do that...

Ah, c'mon...somebody could at least tell me :
A) It only loads the presets that came with it.
B) This has been covered ad nauseum.
C) I'm just an idiot that doesn't even know how to use this software.
D) All of the above.
E) Yes, you can do it and here's how!
Anyone? Ferris? Anyone?

I think I can help.
Now, I dont have the SE version, but I suspect that the version of ST I have works in the same fashion as the SE version
Now I'm not an expert, but this is what I have found. First thing you have to do is convert the wavs you want to load into SE with the import tool inside of SE. You do that with the IMPORT function. Its in the middle of the upper right hand box. This will convert your wavs. Sometimes this takes a while. About 50% of the time, I found that it fails. Also, you cant convert single files, you convert a folder with the files in it. Once that folder is successfully converted, it will appear in your browser menu. From there you can load into the channel of your your chosing.
Hope this helps

Thanks Scoops but it won't let me import anything...I suspect it's just set-up to load what it came with but can't get anyone to confirm...

I was under the impression that you can't import anything. I can't with mine that I know of, and I have two licenses(PT and Tracktion). It would be nice if I was wrong, but I really don't think the SE version can import anything.
HOWEVER, the web site DOES say that it does. It even mentions instruments I don't remember seeing. Maybe I didn't look close enough. Any word on this Beno?

Try this as a test
Go to Ik's site where they let you dl thier examples of the month.
http://www.sampletank.com/Main.html?prod_ST_XL
You will have to navigate to the download section. See if you can load thier examples. If you can't load the thier files, it sounds like there is a restriction. But like I said I've only been about 50% successful in converting wavs to thier system. Persnally I think this sux, but I have the XL version. And it has lot to work with.

I know this won't help, but might be of interest.
In using Sample tank that came with T-2, you have a selection of instruments. On IK's web site they have Sample tank FREE which has different and some better samples. After downloading, and installing, they show up in the filter directory as 2 seperate Sample tanks. In other words you can't put the samples from both Sample tanks into one directory

Chance and everyone else...
Thanks for taking the time to respond even if you don't have the answers...
Wish I could thank Mackie but since I've posted a simple question here and on their forums and no one from Mackie will answer the question, well, I can't thank them, can I?
I mean, damn, all I want to know is will it or won't it do what it says on the site or is that a misprint?
I'm really only trying to find out if I'm doing something wrong or if I just read it wrong...
