a suggestion really:
Midi notes which begin before a clip starts should NOT trigger at the clip boundary. lets say you have a note which begins at bar 2 beat 3 and lasts until bar 3 beat 2. Now lets say you split the clip at Bar 3 beat 1. You will now hear the note retrigger at the seam.
I would suggest that in this case the last 2 beats of the note should appear in the second clip but greyed out until you pull the left boundary of the clip up to the attack. Likewise I think that notes which begin before the clip end should sustain beyond the clip end.
Only this way can you split clips on say a piano or organ track at will without creating a lot of artifacts at the edits.

I could be mistaken, but I think this has something to do with the particular vst.
It seems to me that sometimes if I start playback on a midi note that note will play. At other times I get silence until the next note starts.
