This thread started recently, and on page 3, a post was made by Steve @ Hollow Sun, making a valid point about some of the good bits and bad bits of NSS. There was no rudeness, no false accusations, no bad blood, just a statement of fact that many of us agree with.
Lo & behold it has been deleted and I believe Steve has had his posting wings clipped over there.
I have posted my opinion on page 4 of the thread, which will no doubt result in it being deleted and me being banned.
Therefore, here is my post in full so it will remain for all to see on this more sensible forum...
I find this sad.Akai Roberto wrote:rob morsberger wrote:Hey Steve,
I'm glad you said those things. I agree that this is a troubling issue. It has been sad to see other altruistic and generous small developers scolded for sharing their ideas and works in progress.
No place is perfect. But I also wish there were more flexiblity in this regard and am very glad you are here talking about your stuff. Here is a prime example of what I was talking about. I read this thread today, after being in hospital over night and thought the drugs might still be working because I could not for the life of me see the post that rob morsberger was referring to and what exactly Steve was thanking him for.hollowsun wrote:Thank you for that vote of confidence Rob - much appreciated.
Upon investigation, it appears Steve's post has been pulled.
Why ? Because certain administrators believe rules were broken. What rules ? Those to do with funding, advertising and sponsorship. Seems like, if you pay money, you get the favours, break the rules and screw the rest. Sounds very "Republican Neo-Con" to me. The haves and the have mores !
No doubt this post (however long it stays up) will get me chastised, banned or reprimanded in some fashion (unless I write a cheque or transfer some funds, or change my name to Garritan).
Forum's, by definition, are places where ideas and information is imparted and exchanged. A level of moderation is necessary, but not censorship of factually based opinion. And if it's a rule of this forum, that rule is wrong and goes against the basic principles of democracy and freedom of speech.
I guess this is goodbye
