Which song has your fave bass part?

5G and Joe Frazier performed by Bruford's band with Jeff Berlin playing;
Heartbeat by King Crimson. This is a superb line - understated, but adds everything to the track; it just wouldn't be the same with anything else (truism duly noted!)

I like the bit in Close to the Edge by Yes when there are those off beats during the second chunk of 'verse'



O yeah, heard 'Call me Al' this morning, and that has to have one of the happiest basslines ever, and probably the best known bass solo outside of 'I'm not in Love'

Must agree with Meffy and Ja.x amongst others for 'Heart of the Sunrise -- Yes' and 'Mike Oldfield-Charleston (Platinum Part III)' And someone mentioned 'Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood', Tho' I think I prefer 'Two Tribes'.

Oh, yes, and 'Parallels' and 'Tempus Fugit' are quite remarkable as well..

Kidding why do you think that I am kidding, I think to me it has the best bass part of all songs i know ("You take my breath away", If that is what the song is called.) Though I know no other songs by Berlin. So the reuniting of the group passed me by.

I feel ya!! That whole album is packed full of great basslines.

U2 : With or Without You (as basic as basic can be!)

A good example of spaciousness and not being overzealous with your instrument, no doubt.

One of my favorite songs of all time!!!!
The bass isn't particularly moving in this piece, I would recommend a listen to a couple Elis Regina tracks: Canto de Ossanha and Andanca!!!
