Hi --
Does anyone have suggestions for how to use the compressors that come with Tracktion2 to perform gating/expansion?

You can't do true gating, but you can get close with this kind of setting:

Upward expansion looks like this:

downward expansion something like this:

My go-to Gate has always been the simple but effective Green Gate by Wurr audio: http://www.greenmachine.pwuq.net/html/download.html
But the new GVST plug-ins feature a gate that I'll probably try out soon enough, too:

All freeware.
GVST also features 2 of my favourite new plug-ins, GTune (an instrument tuner) and GSnap (scroll right to the bottom for a wee little text link) which is an Autotune-type thing.

Thanks, that was what I needed. I wish Mackie had added some real gates in, and an expander .. but then I guess if they had, there'd be people who'd complain that they didn't add a pony.IIRs wrote:You can't do true gating, but you can get close with this kind of setting:

It's "laying cable" here.
Man, this thread has really gone down the toilet.
