It's a multitap delay! lay! ! y! ay! delay! tap - tap - tap! ay!

Tuesday sounds good! What date is the first Tuesday in February 2017?

No, seriously, I took a little vacation. Was necessary. But I'm back to workoholic mode and work as fast as possible, unless quality suffers. I want this thing to be free of half-heartedly implemented stuff. It won't be a normal update, that much is promised 8)

Will probably post an mp3 of another patch with only 1 oscillator on Sunday or so. Accompanied by a screenshot of the oscillator. Maybe.

Cheers,

;) Urs

Yes, and it only takes 1.2% cpu on my old 1.8GHz machine... :hihi:

It´s friday... bring us some news! ;)

Post

Ok... news... hmmm... what's new?!?

Well, I've started on the first of the remaining 3 Big Ones: Complex envelopes (aka MultiStages) which need an overhaul, Modulation Matrix and XY-Controls. Everything else is peanuts.

So, currently I'm working on complex envelopes. I've studied some competing products, but I found that nothing I saw offered a sufficient solution for that. The stuff that came closest to what I have in mind is Logic 7's track automation curves. So, I'll certainly get close to that design, but it needs to be easier to use (in Logic you have to change the tool quite often to work with them, and I want stuff to be operatable by one mouse only, without changing any manipulation modes or using too many modifier keys).

This is gonna be a tricky concept that needs a lot of thinking in advance.

I might harmonize this with the spline based waveform editor in terms of usage, but I'm not yet sure, as the requirements for waveforms and for envelopes are pretty different.

It's gonna be a balance act (does one say so?!?) between capability and ease of use. I can think of really great features, like morphable envelopes, but what's the use if they're too hard to handle?

We'll see. I'm sure that I can post screenshots after finishing these 3 Big Ones :)

Laterz,

;) Urs

Way cool Urs. Looking forward to the Win demo!

Heh, ok, more news:

Just finished a little gui widget for testing spline based envelope curves:

So you can smoothly go from straight line to each of the four other curve types for each segment of the envelope.

What do you think? Wouldn't that stuff be sufficient for complex envelopes? 8)

Looks awesome.

How many segments are there in the envelope? I'm guessing it's not a standard ADSR.

There are about 8 extended ADSR (with some nice extra functions, like loops, initial value or delay, fall-rise, post-release-slap-backs) that will do most of the tricks.

In addition I've planned 4 of these complex envelopes with arbitrary number of steps, up to 32, which have those curved segments or alternatively work like a step sequencer, with selectable loop points, tempo sync and various modulation options... well, it's still work in progress...

Looks scary complex. I hope there will be a ton of presets.

We can make our own, Beardedone, and just ignore all the scary complex stuff. Bearded Pough's Basic Black and White Zebra Presets!

It would be great to have someone actually show me how to program a synth first hand. But I wonder if you would have patience. I'm not very quick.

Sufficient??!? I'd insert the phrase "more than" in front of that word :)

Looking at those graphics I think I'd just get a book of model railway track layouts and copy those to make a multistage envelope or two - that'd be fun :hihi:

I hope you're ready to release this at the exact moment I can afford to buy it!

Regards,

Derek.
