Hi there. Something I have come across is I get dropouts in the audio play back after I have done a lot of editting on a group of three tracks. This happens on my 2.3 athlon barton 3200 with 1 gig of ram.

The three tracks were recorded simultaneously and looped. Repeated passes of the same song were done. They are drum tracks with the kit recorded with three mics (making the three tracks). During editting the best section is chosen from the multiple passes (takes). After I have gotten down to quite a few small edits, upon play back there can be dropouts through those editted areas. Thanks for your reply. I hope this clarifies the situation

I have seen similar things happen and I seem to have resolved the problem by increasing latency from 256 to 512 samples. For some edist with a large number of tracks I will go to 1024 once all the recording is done.
I'm not sure if you're having the same problem as you have a much better machine than I have but it does sound at least somewhat similar. It seems that there might be some kind of buffering taking place with the asio drivers, as the 1st couple of loops seem to be okay but the more it loops the more apparent the problem becomes. By the way I'm using a Tascam US122 and the drivers have not been the most solid although I do have some stability with them now.
