The Bug List

This is to throw out the suggestion as well as start with a few myself, but does anyone/everyone think this is a good idea, in light of the rather large number of complaints, and their variety, with regard to bugs in Tracktion 2? It seems like so many people have issues, it might be a good idea to start a thread that consolidates them so people from Mackie have an easy list to refer to.
If we want to do this (and it hasn't been started already---I'm not on here every day), it would be my strong suggestion that the bug decriptions be done as clearly and with as little grumbling or badmouthing as possible. In other words, purely for the practical value of assembling a concise list in one place.
I would also suggest that, in addition to naming bugs that haven't been mentioned yet in the thread, people echo concerns about bugs (i.e. "the rendering bug that so and so mentioned is really a problem for me as well"). That would give some sense of priority for Mackie to take note of.
I really encourage everyone to take part in this, since I think it will be more effective than scattering compaints through many, many threads, or just bringing things up and complaining.
I'll start with a few:
1. There is a problem with MIDI notes sticking when using ReWire and Gigastudio 3. IIR's rigged me a plugin to send note off messages when transport is stopped during sequence playback (otherwise all notes always stick on), but his plug only works to shut the notes off about 1/2 the time.
2. I have problems with multiple instances of MIDI-thru rack filters, which I've tried to use when I want to send a MIDI command stream to two different tracks at the same time (audio out on one and MIDI out on another). In all replicated filters/tracks, the notes stick on all the time.
3. This is more of a grating nuisance than a debilitation problem, but there is a very recurrent tendency for the MIDI editor to be closed for no reason when various editing tasks are done on MIDI tracks. This happens a lot.
4. I have an occasional problem with the application closing altogether and returning me to desktop when I close one project and try to open another, and sometimes when I delete rack filters from edits.
I'll think of more and add them later.

I have realised;
1) I think they probably have a list of Bugs!!!
2) They are setting there own agenda!!! Some bugs are more important to them then others.
3) They can only fix "x" amount of bugs for the next release.
4) I have realised that we dont' get much attention so let it go and get on with making music.
5) Its more usefull to post your bug and get some possible work arounds, than it is to wait untill they get fixed which may or may not happen in the next release...which mind you may be in Beta for Winter NAMM, (well thats what I heard)

Sometimes, if tracktion crashes (almost always due to soemthing i do in a vst) it hangs around in the process list and i cant start up another one. It will disappear after a long while, but usually i'm inspired to just reboot. A clean crash would be nice so i could just restart it again quickly and move on.

It would be nice if they could get T2 working properly before releasing T3. I'm personally planning on uninstalling T2 and reinstalling T1 now, because I recently used it in a school and was reminded how well it worked (compared to the current version, which I can't personally use).Madness wrote: ...the next release...which mind you may be in Beta for Winter NAMM, (well thats what I heard)
So here's my requests for fixes in T2 - i.e. NOT things that I expect to pay for in T3 - things I have already paid for in T2 which don't currently work:
* MIDI sequencing without notes being dropped
* ReWire support that works so that Reason runs properly (i.e. Pattern devices syncronise properly without note drops, etc)
* Audio recording without clicks/pops (this works fine for me in T1 but not in T2 using the same hardware)
* GUI that doesn't freeze
* also there's a strange bug I recently found where I open an edit in T2 and it causes my audio card to be switched off!!! (never happens using any other software, and I use quite a few music programs here) That needs fixing too, please!
There are - I'm sure - others, but these are the ones that have left me with little use for T2 in its present form.
Also, I would like to get that 6 months web-hosting and the other Mackie audio effects that were advertised for T2 (the effects work fine in T1 if you copy the .dll files across).
Thank you very much and goodnight!

MIDI, in general needs a lot of work. I think some kind of piano roll window that maximizes and minimizes out of the channel its in would be cool. This way, the Tracktion mode of work with no extra windows wont be an issue.
More quantize options would be nice...just kill the whole pop up thing in the piano roll..it is a hassle sometimes.
These arent bugs, but suggestions.
here's a bug:
I have a problem sometimes when I close a project and open another..tracktion will just hang until I kill it in the taskmanager.
Im sure there is more, but t2 is very stable for me, and I keep using it despite having the new sonar and cubase sx in the studio.
