Hmmm. I don't know Sascha. But, I will try to find out. It probably requires a very fast computer for the lowest possible latency as usual. The Stomp I/O communicates with the software in a proprietary way though at least. I'll find out more details for you.Sascha Franck wrote:So Squids, what about the lowest possible latency on a modest, modern PC running XP, using the Stomp I/O? This is absolutely crucial for me and there's stated nothing else but "ultra low latency" on the website. Of course that doesn't say anything.

She looks like a "rock girl" to me similar to any you'd find in a guitar magazine (Guitar World, Guitar One, Guitar Player... grab the buyer's guide!). You know, Carmen Electra and Playboy models etc. It's not my personal taste (I like the cute and cuddly type... and then of course personality is also a plus). That said, if I was single and had the opportunity... well, I better be quiet now or I will get into trouble.Sascha Franck wrote:And fwiw, I don't think the model is looking "swedish" or whatever, she's just looking artificial in every aspect (and I'm not even talking about her boobs).
Some stereoptype wanking template for those that don't know any better...
She is a Swedish model. The photoshoot happened while I was there too. Unfortunately I didn't get to go.
Okay, gotta go... I am always late because of my KVR addition issues.

Hey Dave. Thanks for the reply. I understand and respect your point of view regarding copy protection. I would use these keys if I could trust that they would not destabilize my system. I have absoultely no trust in them whatsoever. Until I see evidence to the contrary I am not buying it.Bearded One, sorry dude. You know we love you. I am for the key. Don't hate me. Software has to be protected. You can't put this much value into a product and just leave it a sitting duck. I think you'll be seeing the larger part of the industry moving in this direction. If you support software being made with the kind of sound and features AT2 has then you can look at it as putting up with the minor hassle of using a key as your contribution to a good cause (which is supporting the "no cracks" philosophy). It is a shame there even needs to be any copy protection. But, it is also a shame you can't leave your doors unlocked anymore and that you can't get on a plane without taking off your belt and shoes.
I hope AES is going gangbusters and that the true eye-candy is not quim- but gui- inspired

Fine.
Very fast is OK as well, 3GHz should very well be sufficient in standalone mode I'd think (or running it as the only plugin in some modular host such as eXT).
Assuming it would indeed offer very low latency, this *might* be interesting for me. Though, admittedly, the price tag is a bit hefty, assuming that I allready got a nicely working live setup (or even more than just one setup).

Hm,Plexi Head wrote:Wes from LB has great tone and is a very creative guitar player. I can think of many bands a whole lot worse than Limp Biscuit in the last ten years to be honest. It is currently trendy to slag Limp Biscuit because of their wanker frontman but I have seen them live and they are no doubt a very talented bunch of musicians.
Kinda reminds me of the joke about guitar players.
"How many guitar players does it take to change a light bulb?
100
1 to change the light bulb and 99 to stand around with arms folded saying " I could have changed that light bulb better than him."
Actually I like the sound of LB and the guitar sound is part of that.
And yes, that guitarists joke nails it pretty good. Reminds me of Yngwie Palmsteen saying in an interview that he is the fastest and the loudest guitar player!!!

Hey Squids,
Please record some of the great stuff played at the fair and post it on the website. Without the porn. Thank you.

Sasha - Have you ever seen a USB audio device that didn't say "Ultra Low Latency" in the specs? I would think USB would be okay for control of the pedal board but if it's used to transmit the audio I'd be skeptical. I had an Audiophile USB as my first soundcard, while it did the job with only an occational dropout, the difference you see going to PCI is enough to realize that USB is marginal at best for any audio use because of the way XP handles IRQ's, the buss etc..

Thanks for the replys Squids! Key, challenge/response or whatever doesn't matter today - a cracked version of AT2 will be released. A more advanced form of copy protection does take longer to figure out but that's it, maybe that's enough for IK I don't know. But at the same time they're losing a lot of would be customers because of the copy protection. Cracked versions are safer to use for a lot of people. And remember, when you cough up $500 for AT2 you're also paying for the (non working) copy protection.Squids wrote:Oh and yes it is protected with a key. Sorry. Can't afford for it to be cracked.

Of course not, that's why I was asking.Cosmic Bandito wrote:Sasha - Have you ever seen a USB audio device that didn't say "Ultra Low Latency" in the specs?
Dunno... again, that's why I was wondering.I would think USB would be okay for control of the pedal board but if it's used to transmit the audio I'd be skeptical.
I also know about the advances of PCI cards, and I wouldn't use anything else for serious recording work (or PCMCIA for the matter), but *if* the USB interface of the Stomp I/O box would deliver a small enough latency, it'd be a great and quickly set up live solution.

Oi Squids - OK - pardon my frustration at not getting any answers. BTW, I was one of the thousands who bought Amp1 (only to find that I could only use two instances in Cubase SX2 - IK tech support never did anything to help despite my e-mails). Generally OK with the sound, but really, not good enough. So yes I have actually been waiting for Amp2 for a long time. But man, don't launch a product just with a cheesy chick - where are the SOUND DEMOS???! yes we all like sex, but you know, even for duh-guitarists, tone matters more...

I see girls advertising music gear and am turned off right away. Mechanics have pictures of half-dressed chicks in their tool box. that's appealing to the macho image....I'm an artist (though I am a certified machinst as well), that doesn't appeal to my artistic side one bit...in fact the opposite. I see that and feel those doing the adverstiing are grouping "males" to one classification...I think it's antiquated and quite lame tbh to use that form of advertising in the arts (unless it directly relates to the particular piece of art, ie photo galleries and such)...I'd like to think that most artists are deeper then that.

Yes sir well said. There is enough sleaze in this world. I ask you: How would you feel if that was your daughter on display? We should let IK know it's in poor taste.I see girls advertising music gear and am turned off right away. That's not a girl. That's a lot of plastic moulded into an image of shallow tacky ugliness. If girls looked like that at all I'd apply for a Clockwork Orange style gay makeoever.

It is pointless to point out that it WILL be cracked anyway?!Squids wrote: Oh and yes it is protected with a key. Sorry. Can't afford for it to be cracked.
I guess everyone here has heard the "penalizes legal users...." argument enough already, but it's kind of sad to hear people in the industry clinging to ideas like this.
