I say yes. The problem for the devs is that plugins are too cheap in general to make them a comfortable living while they are providing bugfixes, updates and research & development of new stuff.
Simple math: A plugin that sells 1000 times which is quite good in this business. Most devs would be glad if they would sell these numbers of plugins. Now sell it for $50.
Let's say the dev needs one year fulltime work for the R&D of the plugin all the bugfixes, updates and R&D for a new product. $50000. This is gross income. Take away from this graphics designer, sound designers, web servers, advertisement on KvR, etc. Then he's not extremely well earning if you ask me.
This is a simple example for a one man show that sells GOOD! So ...

My point is not to sell the hardware,
but to show what you can get in the hardware world.
Even for much less $$$, or equal cash,
than relate this to the plugin price here.

Hardware has also software inside and the
production cost are way higher.
Still they are cheaper than what comes on a simple CD
and has all the cpu on board.

Just a reminder for all of us.

Plugins are cool, but some developers just lose touch
to the reality and with the real world. ;)

Then go ahead and burn them ALL (soft and hard) in the fire of your smashing super amp sim that must be better than all of the rest. All for $250!
Wanna hear it. I don't hold my breath though.

P.S. I hope that you found a working solution against those stoopit lousy SynthEdit knobs until you release your plugin. I will never ever buy a plugin with knobs that have a lousy action as they do. :hihi: 8)

Now we're talking. Sounds like serious competition. Good marketing job, NI!

Kewl, Guitar Rig 2 ( from now on referred to as GR2 ) supports Bass as well, and it sounds not bad at all for bass. I think IK has some serious competition ( at least to AT2, maybe not Ampeg )

C'mon IK, where are the sounds samples from AT2?!!!!! You guys announced it 10 months ago and still not a single sound sample. NI announced GR2 TODAY and with 15 sound samples!!

Post

Well, the GR2 floor pedal is looking better for sure, but it's only got 6 knobs, probably not enough to control such a complex thing...
But then, it's got a build in pedal.

I don't like the look of the GR2 floor thingy.

When IK were working on that fancy GUI NI were working on actual amplifier simulation. GR1 was lightyears ahead of AT1, let's see if they're still ahead...

Please don't tell me you prefer the AT2 thing...

Why do you say that :?:

Have you A/B AT2&GR2 to come to that conclusion or do you have any other facts to back it up  or do you just want to bash IK :?:

Seems to be a lot of opinions of a product that hasn't even been released yet..... :-o

Personnaly, I cannot say how good or bad AT2 is, but that is the problem. Where are the sound samples 10 month after initial annoucemnt?! Nowhere :(

On the other hand, NI released GR2 sounds on the same dau it announced GR2. And they do sound pretty good. Not amazing or jawdropping, but pretty good.
I don't like the look of the GR2 floor thingy.
To me, the IK IO even though functionality wise might be more advanced than GR2's pedal, appearence wise, IK's device looks like a toy.

Is that why Sascha doesn't like it? I think the GR2 looks much cooler, but the IK has a lot more buttons... I'm not a guitarist, so it'd be interesting to know why Sascha doesn't like the IK.

By the way (sorry if this has been raised before) maybe the stalling is the fault of the new hardware box? It's IK's first attempt, so they could be having major teething issues.

If this post appears to be pro-IK, it isn't - I've always preferred GR to A1, and frankly, Squids' rambling on about it is becoming quite annoying. A shame, because I think he seems a decent dude...
