Well, I made it as far as page 3, Ive just downloaded a couple of synths, and Im in the music making mode right now, so I really dont have time for this,...but there's nothing like the topic of religion to get people well and trully stirred up.

For years I was a born again christian, and would have been angered, yes angered, not politely offended, by IIRs sig, but thank go....uh, er' people like IIRs, I am now completely free of religion.

I think its the mental illness bit that gets people the most, to me religion is a corruption of the mind, like having a bad file on your system, you get along okay, but things arent quite right.

god does exist, always has, always will,....in peoples minds.

Alright Im off, I have a couple of new synths to play with,

BTW, the next time you go to church, remember to leave your common sense at the door, you won't be needing it in there.

Reasonably accurate spelling communicates the thoughts that you were trying to express. I'm sure that when you said 'sole' that you didn't mean fish or shoes. Or did you?

I must say this, as I'm now BORED at work.

IIR, my self esteem is fine. You have taken this wrong. I acknowledge my "status" as a sinner, or "evil" as you put it. That doesn't make my self esteem low. I'm a very confident person. And again, if you go back and actually look at Christianity and the WHOLE story about creation, you would see that you are mistaken about God creating evil people.

The sad thing is that so many people(not necessarily you) get defensive about this because of some grudge they have or a bad experience. Some people are completely free of logic. Not me. And you're pretty smart from the time I've known you, and if you have come to your opinions with logical thinking, then fine. I'm happy that you're happy.

Just don't assume everyone who believes is an idiot. That has as much truth as me stating that anyone who doesn't believe is an idiot. Doesn't make sense.

Ok, gotta get back to work. Radio station giveaway this weekend(UCK!). I'm serious this time. My time is done with this conversation. I don't have to defend anything, nor do you. Sorry this thread has gotten so far off track.

I didn't say "idiot" I said "mentally ill" and I didn't even attach any value judgements: people with mental illnesses often make full recoveries, or they learn to live with the debilitating effects of their condition in much the same way I sometimes have to work around my Crohn's desease.

Although I still havent got around to reading the book, I believe that "the man who mistook his wife for a hat" did literally do just that, but otherwise was perfectly able to function in his job as (IIRC) a professor of music (:hihi:)

I would also put it to you that self-esteem (ie: regarding yourself as a good person) is fundamentally incompatible with regarding yourself as evil, and your above statement is a classic example of illogical religious doublethink.

By the way, I admit my ignorance in not knowing what 'slainte' really means - you said it was controversial, but not brushed up on my Gaelic, I haven't a clue what it is other than that it is Gaelic.

Going back to the story of creation isnt enough, you have to go back to before the beginning, when god was planning creation, he knew from day one that things were going to go seriously wrong, but he went ahead with it anyway, smart, real smart.

Well if this is plan A, I doubt if plan B would have been any better.

The moral of the story is: Under no circumstances (when creating universes) must women be allowed to eat apples.

Why do animals suffer, they have no sin.

If you want to remain strong in your faith, then dont think about these things, otherwise youll end up like me, in a religion free zone.

what is 80 out of infinity? my maths isint that good but i think the finle number is not infinity - 80 i think its still infinity, if i am correct (& not mentaly ill) we will still have infinity years left in the after life, so the evil of this life is nothing but a test in the BIG plan

the orignal (god given) perpuse of religen was to follow the will of the creator! animals & the rest of nature allready do this (IMO) we do not, so there is a difference,

of course man has been coaxd by the devel in to chainging this to his advantage (in islam it says the devel can speak to you in your own voice)
