is there any reason why you couldn't just turn off the global "e-to-e" parameter by the master section? That way your plugs stop chewing cpu cycles as soon as you stop playback..

Post

All the same. ;) They'll all stop CPU but not unload RAM.

The only way to unload RAM is to either load a blank edit (not that tricky) or close Tracktion.

there is another one that might sute you better :D

disable e-to-e (just above the cpu meter) then every time you stop playing the cpu stops being used

& minimalising only saves cpu if you have it set to not play whil in the background (witch i dont, i cant rember if it is on by defalt or not  )

well z0ap i hope some if not all of thease are of help

:) have fun with T2 ;)

Well, what about changing latency when you have a UAD-1 card? When you go back to the Edit page you get an error message from the UAD and must restart Tracktion. Just closing the edit would be a bit more convenient I think. Even better if the problem could be sorted out with UA of course...

Well, I'm not sure that being able to close an edit would help, since Tracktion still has the devices 'loaded', if I'm not mistaken. Definitely a UA issue, though.

In the meantime, luckily once you find the UAD setting that works for you, you won't have to change it very often anyhow.

No, it's not a big issue, especially since I'm aware of it and can set the latency before I start messing with the UAD.

Unless T had a better splash screen on startup. One so compelling and involving that you would close it and open it every 10 minutes, just for the guilty pleasure of such sweet eye candy.

Nah, that'll never work. T is so wonderful to look at when running, I hate to close it. The best solution is to save up for a dual core. One core for T and the other for the ugly programs.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

mandolarian; you crack me up, ha ha, yeah, I loove those splashes:)

Disabling end to end, rescan plugins folder, changing tab, minimizing T, buy more RAM, got it:)

I think we have discussed this subject now. But if T had a close edit button we wouldn't need too, right?;)

peace out

OK,

I've found a reason to add a 'close edits' button:

Say you're doing some housecleaning and you want to archive projects. Many of us do backups before a project is completed, and what better way to do it than with Tracktion's built-in capabilities?

Trouble is, you can't do housecleaning on any projects that are currently open, meaning you have to do the 'switch projects' shuffle. Better to just close the edit up so that Tracktion's in the state it's in right after boot-up and go from there.

Yeah, you COULD always just shut Tracktion down and re-start it, or use z0ap's plug-in scan trick, but it's a pretty brute force solution to something that could be solved with what is a pretty well standardized function in any application.

At first, I didn't care much because I was only thinking of RAM and CPU. But after doing some housekeeping tonight, I realized that it could have proven useful.

Why bother with workarounds to something that should be a common and standardized feature?
