Yes, it depends on the plug-in. If you have a particular plug-in in mind, we might tell you how many instances of that plug-in you can run.

16 instrument channels each with one VST instrument (or an audio input) plus up to 3 VST effects. Two effect buses each with up to 3 effects, and one master channel also with up to 3 VST effects.

Im using NI REAKTOR 5 And Guitar Rig and Stylist RMX And The B4 ETC. So if only guitar rig, How many can I use before the system quits on me?

Post

I'll have someone who uses Guitar Rig and Stylus RMX answer about those. I have 512MB of RAM in one Receptor, the buffer size is 256, I instantiate B4 16 times, play one note on each B4 instance (16 notes total), and the Receptor CPU meter is around 55%. Without playing anything, just having 16 instances of B4, the CPU is around 45%.

I'm working on a patch that has 2 instantiations of Guitar Rig, 1 each of Amplitube, Atmosphere, Sonik Synth and Master Verb. 60% of my RAM is being used, with 10 notes held down my CPU is at 45%peak.

did you upgrade the unit as far as ram to get the most out of it and if so what kind of ram did you get. And is the hardrive swap able. is the vga board upgradeable as well. I rather use a 1080 by 1024. And is it quiet.

Rick (MaxReverb) has 2 GB - the max.
trippstudio wrote:and if so what kind of ram did you get.
PC 2700 non-ECC
trippstudio wrote:And is the hardrive swap able.
The hard drive needs to be formatted by us. You can order a Receptor with a bigger hard drive from us (160 GB or 200 GB), or if you already have a Receptor with a 40 GB driver, you can order a 160 GB or 200 GB hard drive from us and swap it yourself.

No. Our software runs only at 1024 by 768.
trippstudio wrote:And is it quiet.
Yes. It is much quieter than a desktop computer. Still it has a hard drive so it is not completely silent.

I use my ibook w/ OS 10.3 to manage all my Receptor downloads/installs, and also to run the GUI, etc.
No problems whatsoever.
Yes - this is done via ethernet.
Also, note that you will need the PC versions of any plugs you already own that you want to run on Receptor. Not an issue for me because my main audio computer is a PC, but something to be aware of.

so it sounds great. Now the question is what dose it cost to have it come with a larger drive, say at least 250 gig. And while I have your intrest can we run other aplications using the os buitin the unit. And is the os xp or what

Post

Currently we sell and support a 160GB hard drive for $200.00. The Receptor will only run supported and some unsupported VST and VSTi plugins, no other apllications will work.
