Geeesh Thanks a lot.

Point in case, work all day on a foley and music editing project, get tired and realize you need to go home and wouldn't it be nice if you could take the full mix stems home, pop it on the lappy, or home DAW, pull it up and after a nice hot shower, figure out, yes, this is what it needs. Have you ever had a producer breathing down your back or a looming deadline?

You want to talk about bulls#$it? I've seen plenty of it, my credits range from Get Shorty and Gone in 60 seconds to (no disclosed) major record label A&R, National Marketing Director, not to mention Giga 3 developer (still on their beta team), Sony Loop Developer (3 so far), helped with Guide to Midi Orchestration book, blaa blaa blaa and was asked to write-co write a few books on software. But thanks for the sentiments. At least the crusading was indeed correct.

The point was deadlines, pressure, and LE 7 being raped again, no 5.1, no video, no freeze.

Nuff said, but for the real bull dung, you have to work in it for a while...

PS do you work for Digi? :D

I guess if you say that often enough the mod thinks, this guy's not really adding anything constructive, so perhaps he doesn't belong here. I couldn't see any references to the Digi products you actually use, so perhaps they figured you were basically a troll.

Not that any of this explains why you were banned!
Well at the start you can see we (myself and others) where curious about PT 7 and LE and whether or not it would have 5.1, freeze and higher track count, it didn't. Then there was another post that M Audio has out now *a hardware piece, and of course, no 6 outs, just 4, so again no 5.1. It's the surround that is getting to me unless you go TDM, so it just won't happen. One of the biggest markets these days are video games (for composers) and 5.1/ 7.1 are making huge headway in addition to surround headphones, but alas, Digi disappoints and most users of TDM I know use Logic and Apogee anyway, how they stay in business much longer is beyond me, especially as mentioned in many of the other posts, dual, quad cores (these are being worked on now as we speak (4 cores on one die :-o ) so imagine the horse power of a HOST system in about 1 year, then add in 40% increase with 64 bit OS, 2 fold for every core, multiply that times 4 on one machine then know that Apple (Digi's biggest customer) won't be bogged down with WATER cooled slow G5's that NEEDED TDM and you can imagine when I brought this up why they where peeved....

But I think what really peeved them the most was in response to latency question and why PT TDM was a must for latency issues, I brought up the fact about PCI bus (this was the message deleted) and my response was..The PCI bus share 133MBs-1 connectivity to the southbridge (ICH7R). The PCIE (x1) slots have a theoretical 500GBS so newer PCIexpress Audio devices will eliminate latency as we know it...133 to 500GBS

You're complaining about you did not buy the same/compatible system at home, as you have at work?
And if you're such a bigshot, buy a f**king HD system to have at home then.
History is full of two kinds of people.

Post

I was simply talking about pressure Cryogenic and it's a known fact Digi wants you to upgrade big $$$$$ all the time. I didn't mean to push any buttons and never claimed to be a big shot. If you knew the losses, struggles, pains I have gone through you wouldn't say that. I even pooked a little fun at him asking if he worked for digi. My apologies for if my last statement seemed puffy, but one should ask before calling me something he knows nothing about and I was simply stating the obvious on the other threads, but I speak the truth and find your anger directed at me uncalled for.

I was simply stating that the pressures of work can really get to you. It's one thing to be working on a team, and entirely different when it all lies on "your" shoulders.

Hey Cryogenic ,give your name validity and Chill 8)

Composer 11 has some valid points and i don,t believe he,s trying to act a bigshot just attempting to show his experience and resentment at Digi,s response.
The above "words" are the ramblings of a depraved megalomaniac.Any similarity to normal communication is a hallucination on the part of the reader.Replying to this post will result in your family and posessions becoming the property of funkynuts.

Oh. You state the obvious.

That you don't use or own Pro Tools, but you really do anyway?
That your system at home is not the same as the system at work?
That LE versions should have the same specs as their bigger brothers?
That companies should'nt have upgrade routes?
I was simply stating that the pressures of work can really get to you. It's one thing to be working on a team, and entirely different when it all lies on "your" shoulders.
Oh I see what your problem is now.

No offense but I can understand why Digi banned you. It's a Digi forum. Why would they want you in there? You're venting. You're frustrated because Digi isn't taking the direction that YOU want. You're disappointed that their software/hardware isn't what YOU want. You're disappointed that you can't get your work done? How about NOT venting in forums and getting back to work? How about seperating your work life from personal life? Sounds to me like you're working too much. What you're doing in the Digi forum is poisoning the well. It would be like telling everyone in a Honda forum that Toyotas are better.

Man, you need to step back. A LOT of great music is being made on older systems. You don't need to have the latest gear to make or arrange music. You don't have to buy the latest software, either. Don't believe the marketing hype. See it for what it is. You're a smart person. Take a break. Seriously, if you're thinking "wouldn't it be great if I could take my work home with me", well, stop right there and think about that. You want to take a business studio home with you in a laptop case? Come on, man.

I see a lot of posts in here about people feeling "locked out" because of a computer platform or software solution isn't within their budget. Know your limitations and deal with them. I know what most of mine are and I chose software/hardware that best suits me. Wants and needs are two different things. Understanding them is important.

If Digi banned you, look at the bright side, you have gained more time. You're better off. Let them run off to their ruin. Let it go. It's not your battle.

Sounds like you have a great career! Doing what you like to do? That's awesome! Me too!

Peace, my friend. :D
Death to all dongles!

I am not posting myself on duc forum, but it seems that people reacting on composer11 rant here are uninformed, or are not regulars on duc.
Composer11 , general attitude of moderators on Duc forum is well known, actually on some forums like prosound there are internal jokes about "duck" forum. So only one thing surprising me is that you are surprised by being banned because of your posting, because it seems that you were on duc often.

DucK is known for not allowing too much criticism and ruling with iron hand. You can complain and ask for help in moderation if you are user and have some technical problem with their product, but that's about it. Say few bad things too much about Digidesign and you are blacklisted.

Post

I can tell in 2 posts that you are in no way involved @ any serious level in the film industry.

Post

..........and the attacks continue and am in defensive mode again.....why, becuase DIGI doesn't like what I have to say...

I can post in one link with my name that I am. Some of my associates: Karyn Rachtman, Frankie Pine, Pat Lucas, Roxanne Lippel, Lloyd Levin, Stacy Sher, do any of these ring a bell?

What is a "beg" letter? It's a insider term used for something, what is it? What does it mean. What's the difference between sync and master rights vs singles rights? If a publisher offers you a deal and wants 100% of the publishing and you retain 100% of the writers share and are up and coming, is this a good deal? If so, why, if not, why? What deals do most composers for tv theme get for their theme? Name what the split is and terms of the standard deal and explain why it is or isn't fair. What is a spotting session? Who has to be there, who does not. How often do these take place for both film and tv.

What is considered the standard royalty rate for an artist cd? How about a single on a soundtrack, can it vary? Can the writer for a song on a soundtrack do something to make sure that he/she receives the same rate as everyone else on the soundtrack? If so, what is that called? If you are an artist and leery of the A&R deal, what do you have placed in the contract to protect your rights?

What is the name of the "clause" Who has one of the largest royalty rates as an artist and what is that rate or rather, what would be considered an excellent above average rate? What are reasonable returns? What is the formula for determining an artist CD royalty rate?

What equipment does SSL use on Sunset? How is the info transferred, or uplinked? Is work for hire a good deal for a tv theme if you retain the writers share? Give your anwser and why. What is soundscan? How is it used? What determains the top 200 album charts? What's the difference between Marketing and Merchandising, give me some details.

What is the United States standard Union rate for a vocalist? Can this be problematic for sample cd's, if so why? What is reasonable reserves for an album. Explain. What two steps are needed for a song to clear for usage in film or television, who has the final say, can the artist or is it controlled by the publisher? Who can overide a publisher decision to use a "cue".

What is a cue sheet and how is it used. Explain how the royalty rates are determained on a Feature Film soundtrack. What is the pay cycle for the publisher/writer from Ascap, BMI, SESAC, who are the FILM people at BMI and ASCAP? Who where they 4 years ago? Name the last three presidents of Capitol Records. When did A&M join with Polygram records, who was the #1 key mover and shaker that made this happen? When Jon Secada crossed over from latin to....(fill in the blank) what is that called? Name any music people from Parmount Pictures, Warner Brothers, Universal. What happened to Geffen records and when?

What is the standard rate for renting an avid system? What is the standard pay rate for a Avid Editor?
How much does a Avid system cost? How much did it cost 5 years ago.

As soon as you get back to me, then maybe I'll respond. You expect me to list all the above at DUC? No thank, but I did it here. The personal attacks are un-believeable. If your a Pro-Tools user than fine, but don't tell me that I don't work in the film industry.

Have a good day. :D

Post

Dear Mods, sorry for this but I feel the attacks are un-warranted. I was simply posting that Digi banned me withoug delving too much info about myself and what others around me where sayings. It's a shame that Digi continues to self-inflict it's own damage and there are many petitions on the DUC website that are in favor of what I speak about. One can not simply ignore the processing power of todays machines let alone the dual core laptops that are about to ship and to have LE castrated just to make high end TDM sales is to some extent, not justified. At the very least, if a user has a PT HD system, they should develop a iLOK system of some sort that opens up the LE to higher versions, but as it is well documented, LE opened to full 7 and HOST based would eat away at the sales, thus the no 5.1, video (without the $1000 option), and freeze. My apologies to the others here in this awsome forum that I found a few weeks ago. And apologies to moderators.

Thanks.

LOL. That was awesome!

I think coldmachine just got served!

You're ranting, just a little my friend - ignore the ad hominem attacks and make your point. Just don't expect complicity from all quarters.
