I know this could be posted in many of KVR's other forums, but I didnt want to get lynched. :shock:

I do play the real drums, but not well...and my drumset us used at church, so its a pain to lug them back and fourth all the time.

I have been looking for something more with my drum sounds. The best thing I have done so far is to use the SfZ+ player with the nskit7_free soundfont. The actual drums sound great, but the cymbals sound very unrealistic to me.

Im trying to stay away from spending money...I know, I know...cheap gear = cheap sound...but if anybody has any suggestions on free solutions, I would really appreciate it!

This comes with SampleTankLE for about $79 street. I have found it VERY excellent for Rock sounds. using ST, you can do individual outs/effects on the sounds if you choose. Very flexible.

What ??? You missed that? Now go download the kits. They are simply great. Sascha, pljones and few other kind souls made also patches for various samplers.

I started off a song with nskit, and by the time it was done, I had moved to a combination of Ruffrider and some GM soundfont's drum! :o

Mind you, a kind soul has done a re-mix and threw BFD in there instead. ;)

And now...also,

I usually ALWAYS record audio for everything. I have virtually no familiarity with sampling, past making a beat with a mouse and throwing on a soundfont. This kit...GSCW, looks pretty cool, or so people say. Forgive my ignorance, but once I download this, how will I apply it to make it work. Is there a player I will need to get? I read about 5 pages into that thread (thanks TonyMead), but without knowing what they are talking about, I got lost pretty quick

If you use a Mac, iDrum is cheap and easy to use (about $50). www.glaresoft.com. Depending on the samples used, it can sound great.
