Yeah Squids, I'd put in a request to IK for a ProCo Rat at the least. DC12 is right TS9 isn't technically a distortion pedal.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Fuzz Face is distortion, though. And there's something called Crusher in there, what's that, a bitcrusher or some kind of heavy metal distortion type thing? But you're right, a high gain distortion does seem missing.

Not to argue semantics, but I don't consider Fuzz distortion, it's just Fuzz, the same way a TS9 is an overdrive and not a distortion. Fcuking snooty guitar players we are...

Go here, should help explain. Also look here, note how they refer to the Fuzz Face as a distortion device.
While you may think of fuzz as an effect unto itself, it is in fact a distortion unit. A voltage feedback/biased bipolar circuit, as the vernacular would have it, and it does asymmetrical soft-clipping of the signal.
So while Amplitube doesn't have a wide array of distortion effects, it does have them, just not the one you were hoping for.

Fuzz is definitely distortion. Most overdrive pedals are also distortion pedals, because they emulate the sound of overdriven tubes, in addition to also boosting 'level' in order to ACTUALLY drive tubes.
Why a Metal Zone imitation, though? It makes little sense to me that anyone would find one useful. I HAD an actual Metal Zone pedal, and it's not a necessary component for a 'metal' sound. Use the amp to do that!
That said, you can also use other 'distortion pedals' in front of Amplitube if you want. Nothing stopping you.

fuzz is distortion....the worst besides digital distortion imo, but it is distortion...really I still dont get the craze of electro harmonix...when I was young and it wasn't vintage we considered the big muff a joke, a toy...I remember throwing mine out a third story window into and smashing it on a rock with glee...there was a mod in that electronic book for guitarists that made the little big muff pi sound good, but it wouldn't touch the morley power wah or even better mxr distortion+...who hear remembers Maestro?

speaking of fuzz there was another choice that I liked for years back then..the Polytone amp...baby brute I think mine was...100 watt single twelve with a concentric volume pot, the inner was red and fuzz.

While I haven't been that cruel to my EH stuff I agree with you. It's what you bought because you couldnt afford "real" stuff. Well the Memory man deluxe wasn't that cheap (unless compared to other long time analog delays back then), and it has kind of a special sound that I can't sem to get any other way. But the Big Muff goes from nothing to uncontrollable noise with no guts directly. Can't seem to get any use out of it. And what do you know, mine, bought original in the seventies, is still in mint condition. The reasons I don't get rid of it is mainly nostalgia. But also that I don't have the heart to sell it too anyone for what it goes second hand and I'm to cheap to take less...Hink wrote:really I still dont get the craze of electro harmonix...when I was young and it wasn't vintage we considered the big muff a joke, a toy...I remember throwing mine out a third story window into and smashing it on a rock with glee...

the day I bid farewell to that thing was the day I walked in with my plexi-head (I had a v4)...

Okay, one thing I won't do is just shut up. So you can forget that!
You can always just choose not to read what I have to say and wait for the plug-in to just come out.
As for making audio examples, I will do it but I have to wait until the official demos are released first. Also, to clarify (for those that perhaps don't realize) I am not the one who is making this plug-in. I do the sounds for IK plug-ins like Sonik Synth 2 and Miroslav Philharmonik. My team is in the midst of working on the next IK sound module plug-in, Studiophonik. Asking me to just put out AT2 and stop talking about it is pointless. It is not something that is in my control. I am as anxious as you for it to be out. But, I understand that quality can take time in production for it to be really great and last a long time.
Regarding distortion, there are several distortion variation pedals including overdrive and fuzz. There's also a lot of amp distortion as well of course. In my personal pedal collection I only have one or two pedals actually called "distortion". One is a Boss and the other is an MXR distortion plus (which is really more of a fuzzbox actually). Most of my distortion pedals are the fuzz variety.
Anyway, I am always interested to hear which pedals people like. You never know. They could end up in AT2 at some point. I have my own wish list. But, on top of my list was the CE-1, Fuzzface, Vox Wah, TS-9, Dynacomp, MXR Phaser and a few others.

both are very basic tube tones...why presets?A3ntar wrote:Squids, here is the presets/tones I would like to see in AT2
-Gary Moore: Still Got The Blues
-Santana: Black Magic Woman
Would that be possible?
Thanks!

I found this it's a clip from still got the blues that I did about...maybe 8 or 9 years ago when I had a qy20 and a dude I worked with would get me midus...this is one of the first midi covers I did and ist a sansamp set too bright, but if you do as I suggested above you'll get a much better tone, remember this is quite old but I thought you might get a kick out of it, instead of making you suffer some crap vox this is a small segment at the start of the last solo...
(I love that song)

Yes, I agree, the VAmp is quite noisy.AndrewSimon wrote: The noise level also spoils everything. (I am fanatic in this field)
With the POD I hardly ever switch the noise gate on.
For me, that'd be the minimum. If Amplitube2 will have a great dynamic reaction like Vamp2 we will have a lot of fun.
Btw, regarding dynamic reaction and/or cleaning up of sounds, my oldskool GT-5 still beats them all.
Makes you wonder really...
Hm, I don't know. FW interfaces will still clog up your CPU more than proper PCI systems.Funkybot wrote:I want something with lots of inputs, that's flexible as far as what I can do with those inputs, has really good ADC's and that has solid drivers. As far as I hear and can tell, the Fireface fits the bill the best out of most modern interfaces (PCI or otherwise).
I agree, it's highly flexible though, and the one with the additional onboard mic pres certainly looks tempting.
Oh, and regarding distortion pedals coming with AT2, I agree that something along the lines of a Boss DS-1 would be good. If there's one classic for anything heavy, it's got to be the DS-1.
For me there's 3-5 classics regarding overdriven/distorted sounds: A Tube Screamer, a DS-1, a Rat, whichever Fuzz and probably something along the lines of a treble booster (which can do miracles on, say, a Vox, just ask Brian May).
In addition, some pedal drive such as the new Fulltone ones would e highly welcomed. For the tone afficionados among you, I highly recommend checking out the Fulltone pedals. I've never ever played a better drive pedal than either their OCD or Fulldrive 2.

Absolutely high on my to buy list.
Believe me, regardles of real tube amps you may own, these pedals add something to each setup. You can use them to slightly crunch up a clean channel, make a lead sound out of some crunch channel and boost a heavy rhythm channel to give you a great lead tone.
And fwiw, I dig fuzz pedals every now and then. Just as much as I like Lenny Kravitz, which IMO is one of the greatest songwriters and producers during the last years, "modern vintage" or so. Just listen to his fuzzy rhythm tones, great!
