No dials on GUI

Hi,

I've already replied to a previous thread about this problem, so excuse me if I'm repeating things already said :)

After reinstalling Podolski and the Filterscape demo I just can't get the dials to showup.
The directory structure is the way it's supposed to be, (as mentioned in the other thread)
I've unpacked with the latest Winrar as well as the standard XP unzipper but both GUI's show no dials or presets at all.

I've checked both inside of Tobybear's Minihost and GUI's of both plugins work, dials and presets show the way they should, so either something really weird going on or I'm getting too dumb for this stuff :hihi:

The only thing changed is that I've upgraded to Sonar 5, could it be that Sonar is having some sort of problem with the GUI or finding all elements at runtime? Anyone?

Thanks in advance :)

Hiya,

it's Sunday, so I only reply to pleasing threads :P

Hmmm, if they work okay in Minihost, I assume that there's something weird happening otherwise...

... maybe Sonar loads some orphaned .dlls that loosely lay around somewhere without any uhe_data folders in place? Have you checked if there's really only one Podolski.dll and one of each FiltescapeXX.dlls?

Hmmm, or, do you have any strange letters like ö. Œ, æ or ß in the path to Vstplugins? I don't know, but these might corrupt the plain loading routines of libpng...

Also... does that mean you have a *white* gui? Can you estimate the size in pixels? Are they as big as they are supposed to be?

Anyways, I'll ask the beta team if there's a problem with the latest Sonar...

Cheers,

;) Urs

hi Urs,

Well, the plot thickens, I've tried a couple of things but the problem remains as it seems.

First take a look at this picture and see what's missing :)
http://www.imagehosting.us/index.php?ac ... ent=815291

I did a format and reinstall of everything before installing Filterscape, so no orphaned .dll's or weird directory names, the rest of the gui seems to load alright, it's just the dials that are gone.

The problem with the presets missing seems to have solved itself

Another thing that has changed is that only FilterscapeVA has the correct name inside of Sonar, with both DirectiXer and the VST adapter the filter and Eq are named 1.1 and Q6 1.1, previously they were both prefixed with Filterscape, could be just coincidence though.

Filterscape's Gui size in pixels is 690x464.

Like I said nothing else changed but me installing Sonar 5 and recently WinXP servicepack 2, it almost looks like something changed about how Sonar(or the adapter for that matter) handles Filterscape's gui.

Minihost works, the moment I insert it inside of Sonar, be it installed via DirectiXer or the adapter or even through EnergyXT the dials are gone.

:help: :D

Anything else you want me to try?

WTF?!?

Now that's really something!

Looks like the code that draws the vector circles has a problem here, but as it doesn't crash I can't imagine the cause at all!

And it's the same in Podolski?!?

Soooo weird! - Dunno if I should  or  ...

When you drag the invisible Cutoff knob down, does the sound react?!?

Cheers,

;) Urs

I must think this over...

Hmm, this doesn't happen in Sonar4PE.

I'm not sure what the situation with the Sonar wrapper in 5 is but the one in 4 was dodgy with some plugins. A rescan of the wrapper was always a good trick. whyterabbyt is the man that knows his Sonar issues.

Urs, Cakewalk were very helpful with some issues we were having with the wrapper and Camel stuff, i could email you the email of the support guys we were in touch with if you like.

Need another Sonar betatester? :hihi:

Seriously though, like Hunter mentioned, I never had any problems with Podolski or Fs with version 4 of Sonar, so something must have changed.

Screendump of Podolski:

I've tried a reset and rescan of both plugins, but it makes no difference, the problem is still there.

All "invisible" knobs work though and I've just tried both inside of EnergyXT standalone and they work fine.

So, use DirectiXer, the Cakewalk adapter or EnergyXT in combination with Sonar 5 and they're gone.

It doesn't look like only the adapter is at fault here, more like something inside of Sonar's main program code doesn't like those vector circles

Now, this is probably the most stupid thing I've ever seen!

Jim, please link me up!

That looks familiar
Probably this won't be much of a help but...
Urs, don't know if you remember, but I once e-mailed you about my plugins wich used nui/ngl, that where causing a "confilct" with Filterscape and Podolski. It looked exactly as in MoonDive's screenshot. (I resolved the problem by staticly compiling my plugs) Maybe some Sonar5 dynamic library (not necessarily a vst-plugin) is also causing that kind of behaviour?

cheers,
Bart

I don't mean to jump in here like this, but i've had similar problems with filterscape also Urs. The only problem with mine was that (I have tried d/l the demo on numerous occasions) my wrapper pops up and all, and there is sound, but no GUI comes up at all. Each time I tried d/l it to try again it never worked. Could just be my software or pc though I admit. FL is almost always kind to me, i've never had a problem with any but maybe a rare few VST's not working. I hear your work is lovely though! I just thought i'd post this up in case some other who use FL are having problems too. Sorry to hijack, I really am.

Hiya, this usually happens on pre-XP versions of Windows, or when the file structure isn't set up correctly. There should be the infamous "uhe_data" directory full with images and presets next to the Filterscape.dlls. This gets scrambled oftenly when you use WinZip or anything instead of XP's built-in zip utility to extract the download archive.

I've planned to come up with a better scheme (installer, maybe) for this next year...

Cheers,

;) Urs

Any luck in finding the fix to the gui problem already Urs?

Looking forward to buying FS or Zebra when it's out, but only if the vector circles are working :P

j/k of course, after all the teasers, I'll buy Zebra even if I have to draw those damn circles with a marker on my screen myself :D

Anyway, hope you can sort out this weird problem, not trying to rush you or anything
