I also run BFD and Stylus and really dislike the idea of having to purchase yet another copy protection device. C/R and iLok are just plain stupid.
Supported vs. Unsupported?

Okay, I've been reading the manual and looking at the Plugorama site and I have to ask this question. Do I have to cross-grade? For instance, I own a license for Albino 2, Absynth 3 and several other VSTi's. Can't I just run the .dll that installs on a Windows box? Or will the receptor reject me trying to run a VSTi that is supported in an unsupported mode? Or that that breaking some license rule? I REALLY don't like the idea of the iLok. It would be a disaster if I misplaced an iLok before a gig.

The plug-ins that come with Receptor and are iLok protected cannot be installed as unsupported.
If you already own Albino 2 you can cross-grade for free. Absynth 3 is a "User Installed" plug-in. That means that you can use one of your Absynth authorizations (you get two) on Receptor. So I don't see a problem with these two. I don't know about the other VSTi's, since I don't know which ones you own.
If you are worried about misplacing the iLok, you can call us and request a kit for installing the iLok inside Receptor. Or you can do it yourself by unscrewing the top of Receptor, unscrewing the iLok connector from the inside, then turning it inward and securing it to the box with, let's say, some velcro glued to the box.

Yes, you are right. To be even more precise, the USB connector on the frontboogooloo1 wrote:You mean the USB connector, I'm assuming? Just for clarity...

Okay, that sounds good. I have an iLok now for Antares Auto-Tune 4. So, I guess I'm getting another iLok with the receptor. Soooo... um, how do I keep the licenses seperate? Can I have one account with two iLoks? Can they be clones of each other? Installing inside the box will be great. That's all I'd need is to have someone steal the iLok or snap it off. Someone stole the ball out of my trackball once.DanTimis wrote:Yes, you are right. To be even more precise, the USB connector on the frontboogooloo1 wrote:You mean the USB connector, I'm assuming? impOSCar
SampleTank 2XL
Amplitube
Cameleon (haven't seen this one mentioned, yet)
MicroTonic
Ohmforce Symptohm Performer
I thought I'd be able to browse the cross grades prices but you can't unless you have a Receptor registered.
Can the VSTs that you bundle on the drive be un-installed? To save space AND allow use of unsupported VSTi's?

You can have an account with more than one iLok. I have 5 (for testing purposes).CrownRoyal wrote:Okay, that sounds good. I have an iLok now for Antares Auto-Tune 4. No. Unless you buy two licenses for everything.CrownRoyal wrote:Can they be clones of each other?

Minimonsta and impOSCar will be $19.95 each. SampleTank and Amplitube will be available very soon and they will be "User Install" so you will need another authorization from IK Multimedia, exactly as if you were needing one for another computer. We are working on Cameleon, but I'm not sure how soon it will be available.
MicroTonic had serious redrawing problems on Receptor. I talked to the developer at NAMM in January, and he said that he knows how to fix it. You should try it as unsupported, and post the results here. If it does not work we'll involve the developer again.
Finally, Ohmforce Symptohm Performer is unsupported, but here on KVR it is marked as "Known to work."

Alright, that answers my questions about the cross-grades. Thanks. I appreciate the support. I'm looking forward to getting my Receptor. There's just a lot to figure out. Looks like I'm going to have to shell out more money to cross-grade but it wasn't as much as I thought. I just can't stand the BS with copy protection. I buy my licenses and yet I'm punished by having to get C/R, iLok's, Steinberg keys, blood samples, DNA matching and God knows what else is coming down the line. Maybe we'll have to get tattoo's of our licenses? Ha!DanTimis wrote:Minimonsta and impOSCar will be $19.95 each.
