Concerning studio use, how will Receptor (Uniwire) be better than using FXteleport?

First off, props to FX Teleport for a great product, but UniWire is a very different beast. First off, UniWire works at a much tighter level of integration between your computer and Receptor due to the fact we have created an actual UniWire plug-in. The UniWire plug-in allows you to control where MIDI or audio goes on your Receptor, allows you to select banks and patches on your Receptor and even allows you to open Receptor Remote that gives you total control over your Receptor and the plug-ins it is running.
In fact I was surprised to see a lot of people weren't even aware of Receptor Remote - we've shipped it since day one and it allows complete control of your Receptor, including viewing the plug-in's GUI, all over Ethernet (including over wireless, if you're willing to put up with some performance hit of the graphics). The fact that you can network over to Receptor and control it completely using Receptor Remote software running on a Mac or PC seems to be something that not everyone is aware of, and when combined with UniWire, it creates an amazingly integrated solution.
Next, UniWire is really different in the sense that it is completely host-agnostic, it works equally well with a Mac or a PC, and we will have UniWire plug-ins in VST Mac, VST PC, as well as AU and evenutally RTAS as well. We'll specifically support Live, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, ProTools, Sonar, DP - pretty much all the hosts out there. All you do is install the appropriate UniWire plug-in into your host environment, and voila, your computer just got a lot faster as a result of the supplemental processing provided by Receptor.
Another differentiation is the fact that Receptor is remaining true to the "Plug-in, Play" notion since there is nothing that needs to happen to your Receptor besides turning on UniWire mode. It is completely integrated into the system and preset structure of Receptor, again improving the level of integration and the simplicity of the overall solution.
And of course those who have used Receptor will likely tell you about how different it is from a computer since it was designed from the OS up to do just one thing: run plug-ins The resultant convenience, stability, and performance make it a very attractive package overall, but admittedly, I'm a bit biassed!
Thanks for your question...sorry for the longwinded response.

I just wanted to add that if/when Uniwire get's "offline processing" capability (ie. fast freeze) it will be an even MORE killer solution.

Is there anything that receptor can't do that FXteleport can?
Is this offline capability speaking of using VSTi's on the host computer if receptor is not connected like FXteleport does?

Uniwire will not support "Fast Freezing" or any other "offline processing" the way that other VSTi's do, and yes FXTeleport supports this. This also includes the ability to "freeze" audio effects (Sonar calls this "Process Audio"). There are "realtime" workarounds to this with Uniwire.Adambomb337 wrote:Is there anything that receptor can't do that FXteleport can?

See this thread for the official answer to this question: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=107227

Most FXT user say you have to run all your FX on one PC and your VSTi's on the other.
Is it possible to run receptor wrapped Vsti's with receptor wrapped FX's in sync with the host pc's wrapped vsti's and receptor Fx's?
As far as I know, FXT is not able to do this...Maybe receptor can?

I cannot comment on FXT, since I do not know it in depth.Left Headphone wrote:Most FXT user say you have to run all your FX on one PC and your VSTi's on the other.

With UniWire you have two types of plug-ins, an instrument and an effect. You can mix and match instruments and effects any way you want. They can all send MIDI (and audio for the effects) to a Receptor and get audio back. They are all in sync with sample accuracy. If your DAW supports automatic delay compensation UniWire will be in perfect sync with the other tracks.

OK, serious question here. This would probably be make-or-break for me...
If I load up (say) a Cubase project with uniwire links to a Receptor, does Receptor automatically recall the project settings, or do I have to do something separately on the Receptor?
